C5 Towing-Flatbed Roll On
Called the local dealer for a tow. The driver had no idea where to hook up the cables. (I did a bunch of searching here but didn't find any info on where to hook up the cable).
According to the Chev dealer, they pick up Corvettes all the time with this company. Called it off and will try again in the morning. But, where are the cable hook up points in these cars. The driver was looking where I had installed the hockey pucks. Is that the tow point? (Hope not, I glued them in).
Thanks, Bob/Bradenton (Very hot and frustrating day for my nice Torch Red convertible Corvette).
Then the Ah-HA moment kicked in and I remembered that I had installed the plastic pucks at the lift points. Those slots are what are used to hook the car up to the cables on the truck.
Unfortunately I had glued them in since the snap-in instructions, I felt, did not secure them well. So the new tow guy used a strap around the steering gear to pull the car onto the flatbed.
All went well the car was delivered to the dealer.
So, if you ever call for a tow and have pucks, remove them before the tow guy gets there to avoid confusion.
Also, be sure the tow guy knows to bring 2 x 6 planks and a couple of short 2 x 4's to gently raise the car as it is pulled up. The first guy didn't know to bring them, the second guy did. The car would have been damaged if the planks were not used.
Still learning about these wonderful cars...
