This winter I picked up a single din radio package from Dennis at Double D Mods. I finally got around to installing this past weekend (car was in storage until mid April). I went with a Pioneer unit that has bluetooth music streaming and calling capabilities. I was sorely missing this featurevin the vette as compared to the dd.
The install was fairly straight forward. Dennis pre-wired the harness for me which made it that much easier for me. I did have a quick question during the wiring for the power source so I called up Dennis and he pointed me in the right direction. I was able to finish up with much issue after that.
I ended up mounting the bluetooth microphone right in front of the gauge cluster. It seems to be a great spot to pick up sound and I barely had to run the wire any where.
Looks nice..got my single din from Dennis as well. He wire up the harness and all had to do was install. I called him on a couple things as well and he helped me out. Great guy to deal with. I agree on the location of the mic as well.
I did the same as you with my single DIN JVC radio since I missed streaming from my iPhone and bluetooth calling. However, I can't get the microphone to pick up worth a darn. I have to yell at it for anyone to hear me. I can hear the caller fine through the speakers. My mic looks just like yours. Did you have to do anything special to allow it to work well?
One other thing... I bought a custom adapter from a vendor here that allows the radio to be flush with the dash very similar to the factory unit. It is aluminum and is finished in the same texture as the factory dash. The word "Corvette" is machined in it and can even be set up to illuminate with the dash lights (I thought that was a little much for my taste). All in all, it almost looks factory. I wish I could recall the name of the vendor as it's a good product.

I didn't do anything special with the mic. I just plugged it into the back of the unit and mounted it as is. Where did you mount the mic in your car?
Did you replace the Bose speakers and amp as well ??
No, but the sound quality is noticeable better with just the head unit. Plus, main reason for the swap was the need for bluetooth. I only get to spend so much money on mods each year. I want to get into doing lapping events this summer so my next upgrade will probably be upgraded rotors, performance pads and ss brake lines.
I foresee upgrading the rest of the audio at some point down the road though.

I'm in the same boat as you.... I need Bluetooth for my cell phone while driving (new law here in Texas) and I'd love to get XM radio. Tired of all the yak, yak, yak and commercials on the local stations.
Time to head over to Best Buy......

The lettering can be above or below the head unit opening, there is also a non illuminated version with the head unit located in the center of the mount.
The main lettering illumination available in red, blue, green, yellow, white LED’s and also red mini lamp illumination.
That's it. Mine has the lettering below the opening. I really like the flush fit look compared to the original owner's setup where the head unit stuck out of the dash face about a quarter of an inch.

Could you post a picture of yours to see how it looks?
