I have an almost "ringing" (high pitched metal rattling) noise coming from the rear while in (I think) any gear, and only while accelerating at low RPMs. Sound's duration is less than a second. I don't notice the noise while using the clutch, only while in gear and under a load. Any suggestions what it may be?

You might have a parking brake shoe retaining spring come loose, or is it possible your rear pads are getting near the wear indicator?

The sound doesn't have that distinctive wear indicator sound, and the pads I believe are decent but not 100% sure on that, bought the car 12mo ago w/ 37k and I have 41k now, could be original. When I put the shocks on I asked the shop to look at the pads they said they were fine. But I only hear it when I take off from a stop (normal driving) at low RPM. And I hear it for less than a sec. Then again for each gear change, when I hit the gas again. Even just going very slow 25mph in 4th and then start to accelerate staying in 4th it'll make sane noise. Very fast high pitched vibration, I'll check that spring and pads though thank you.
No... it's all good, just when I first saw it, I had all kinds of inappropriate things to say...lol.
Your in the right place and someone that has had the same issue will chime and get you headed in the right direction...
I know some have some "rattling sounds" in the mufflers... are they stock or aftermarket?
I'm assuming by your avatar the car is a 2000 and you've already mentioned something that makes it a 6 spd...
So... I have some more questions for you...
Have you addressed or know if the Column Lock issue has been dealt with?
Have you or are you being progressive to clean and maintain your clutch fluid?
Have you considered the CAGS delete if that hasn't been addressed?
You also can change your trans fluid to synthetic and improve shifting...
also there is a Modification to the detent called the Anti-Venom mod, also to help or improve shifting...
Congrats on your car, welcome to the forum and we're here to help....

Sounds good, any thoughts or direction I know if I can hear it, everyone around me can too. I can hear it echoing in parking garages.

I do not know if the column lock issue has been resolved, or what to look for I'm unfamiliar with that and CAGS for that matter. I'll check out clutch fluid. Car seems to shift fine, but I'd like to learn and am open to different ways to improve
I have a squeaking sound coming from rear when going over bumps. I think it's the E-brake assembly on the back tires, it needs tightened. Of course I can't get the caliper brackets off because somebody before me lock-tited them

I think your just experiencing the dreaded bracket bolt war... others have stated needing super hero strength to bust those bolts...
I'd say put some serious tension on them with your wrench and then if you can tap on the metal where the bolt is threaded in with a hammer...
sometimes the shock will free up a seized bolt...
Another method is just good ole heat... but you'd need to be careful to not get anything to hot less you burn, melt, disfigure some seals/lines or other components.
Not to jack the PO's thread, but you think so? I broke em loose but they required like 90 foot pounds to keep em rotating. I'm just gonna go to my buddy's house who has air tools and blast em off. Judging by the caliper to bracket bolts, I think the previous owner loved locktite a little too much .

You can remove the footwell carpet and if the LMC5 has been installed you can see it... it will be attached to the BCM and stuffed somewhere in that general vicinity...
CAGS is Computer Aided Gear Selection... gas guzzlers tax thing
Anyway it makes you shift from 1st to 4th... also called skip shift...
They make a simple plug and play module that deletes that function so YOU shift whenever you want
The CLUTCH fluid NEEDS to be addressed on a regular basis regardless... unless you want to upgrade your clutch...

Ya.. they should have locktite.. and sometimes it really gums things out and makes them hard coming out...heat should help, I'd try using a paint stripper heat gun if you think you might be pulling threads...
Be sure you CLEAN those holes out before going back with your bolts and a little locktite goes a long way..
I will suggest jacking up the rear of the car, jack stands, chock the front wheels and either you or a friend try to locate the noise as one of you works throttle, shifting , brakes. Good luck in finding the gremlin !! If you have a stethoscope or long screwdriver you can check some or all of the area's of suspension and drive train while it's running !!
