My C5 has 6400 miles on it, so it's super clean. Anyway, I just bought a lift so I can finally get access to the underside of the car without having to put it on ramps and suck in my gut. While admiring the near perfect underside I noticed something interesting on the gray figerglass panel that is just above the muffler tips. There are two pieces of back "something" about 2" x 2" square (about 1/8") thick that are stuck to this gray panel. They are high enough up that you can't normally see them and have a plastic film over each one. They seem to have some tackiness when you peel the film back. At first I thought this was some sort of double sided tape to mount an exhaust plate, but one of them is way out of the way and not near the center of the exhaust tips. I'm wondering if this was maybe some sort of way that GM attached the build sheet as it rolled through the factory and they were supposed to be peeled off at the end.
I would assume it's the tape to adhere the exhaust plate. Maybe the previous owner screwed up with placing the tape and didn't finish the job or maybe just decided not to install it.

Just checked my car and it has the same two pieces on it. So, I doubt it is anything to do with the previous owner or any exhaust plate error. Must be something from the factory but exactly what I have no clue.
