Got the C5 vert all polished/waxed/Rejex up and took off for a trip! You can't enjoy the trip if you are obsessing over bugs, rain, and dirt. @#$% it! I bought it to drive it, not show it! And it is fun to drive!! (so far, no tickets.) Rinse the bugs off at the car wash and worry about the rest of it when I get home.....it's only a car!!!

I totally agree with your thinking. I did the same prep as you and after a 5197 mile trip w/ my son, my 98 looked like crap. After a good clean up,she looks as good as new. They were meant to be driven. Not to make ones garage look pretty.

All of the above mentioned drives me crazy also, but after buying a new Monte SS and only putting on 30,000 for 7 years ,when I traded it for my 99 vette with 50,000 I told myself to drive it and drive it and drive it !!!!!! Have had the vette for one year and a month and put on 12,000 miles (just summer driving)

Its just the labour of washing and waxing just to have it all negated...I hate spending half the day washing/waxing only to be caught in a rain storm 15 min. later. Feel sitting in the backyard with some buddies and a few beer better time investment then!

It's just different people have different outlooks on what they want from car ownership. Nothing wrong with buying the car to drive or to sit in a garage if that is your thing.

I agree - getting behind the wheel and cruising down the road is a lot more fun than sitting in the garage staring at the car.

I really enjoy doing both. Looking at it in the garage and driving it as well

I really love driving it (my 98) but there's nothing like cleaning it and looking back when you walk away !!!

I keep mine spotless , I love cleaning on it, BUT I drive it the way it was meant to be driven, if I want to just look at something in the garage I'll stare at the mower, I don't want to get old and say "yeah I sure looked at that car a lot"

About two hours into the trip we hit the first rain shower. Then the Mississippi Delta bugs about dark........then more rain. It all rinsed off pretty easy though.....before I put it to bed for the night.

I wish the highway construction people would figure out to make bridges more even with the roadway................

89,989 miles and looking fine. Hauled birdseed, some cement pavers and potting soil in her today

Yep. I'm on a little weekend trip with my wife right now. It got bugged (heavily) and rained on. It's a little bit painful to see her dirty but the enjoyment and memories are well worth it. It's pretty cool that a car 2 generations old can still turn heads. What a blast to road trip in!

life is too short to keep your car in a garage.

I drive mine as much as possible, that's why I bought it.
