I had the wheels off the car today cleaning them, and I found a hairline crack, about 1" long, starting at the edge of the rubber. It looks about like:
but on the opposite side of the wheel. The wheels themselves are pretty much junk as is, since the previous driver liked to use them to find curbs, and I was planning to replace them eventually anyways, so this kind of expedites things.
I'll be doing my own research in the meantime, but I'm looking for something that will fit my current tires as they're practically brand new:
If anyone has any reviews/suggestions of such wheels (or want to try to talk me into a different size - I'll already be dropping the zp on the next set of tires) I greatly appreciate it. The budget is however much I can talk the wife into letting me spend this go-round
edit: Preferably something that will fit c6 zo6 brakes in the future.
I had a crack in my rear wheel so I replaced all of them with new oem z06 wheels from House of Wheels. They look great and they also have new oem thin spokes if you want to replace them
loganc5, one question. Are your current wheels polished or painted? Is it a front wheel or rear? I ask because, by far, most of the cracked wheels have been polished. It also appears that the rear wheels crack more often than front. When a post like this occurs, I'd just like to know for information. Thankx

I'm pretty sure they're the painted. I'll check the option codes later. It's one of the fronts, but I lived in Mississippi for 7 years, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's been that way for a while, courtesy of their highway system.

I am thinking you either have a typo in the above post, or the biggest rear tires I have ever heard of. 475/40's would be huge.
I wound up taking the cheap option for now (saving for a house and other things that are more important at the moment,) and went with a set of c5 z06 replicas in base c5 sizes from Bob's House of Wheels, along with a set of chrome lug nuts. These won't allow me to upgrade to c6 z06 brakes in the future, but that can hold off until we are better situated, and the wife is happy
The wheels arrived in ~3 business days, and were well packaged against harm during transit. Haven't gotten them balanced/mounted yet, but I'll update once that's done for future knowledge.
I did have two complaints, however:
Both of the front wheels had areas inside of the barrel that were missed during the finishing process. I called Bob, and he said not to worry about it because they will be covered with brake dust; while I didn't press the issue (probably should have,) I am somewhat disappointed based on how much people rave on here about his level of customer service.

The lug nuts are fine in quality, except for that they come shipped loose in a bag. This has an effect much like a rock tumbler, and caused flakes in the finish, but luckily for me only in places that won't be visible/would be damaged by a tire iron eventually.
Any idea if the missing finish on the wheels will have some sort of negative side effects with wear down the road?
I had two rears crack where the spoke meets the rim. Wouldn't hold air. Hairline like what you mentioned. I traded up for a set of 08 Z06 spiders. Lost a brand new set of Michelins but after two cracking in the same place with no impact I was feeling like I couldn't trust them anymore. I am feeling like there is probably a defect in the design.
