I was wondering if I can install I newer style bcm say 99-03 in my 1997 corvette without issues? I know the rpo need to be programmed in which I have a tech 2 so it shouldn't be a problem.
It might work but I am sure you would probably need to move some wires around. That is easy. Your RFA and TPM sensors would need to replaced if you went with an 01 or newer.
I know newer PCMs have been used in early cars. I don't recall if I have any info at home on BCM swaps but I can look.
If you figure out which year you would want to use I could provide you with the pin outs for both old and new.
Worse case is you get an 01 or newer reman unit for $200 and it does not work. Not sure how much earlier ones are. You should factor in any RFA and TPMS costs for a true comparison.
Yes the only reason I went with a newer model bcm is because I was able to get one easier and about 500 cheaper. Dadaroo emailed me the bcm wiring specs. The only difference I see is in the 97 there is a abstcs wire that I'm not sure where it would go in a newer style one. I've been having electrical issues so I got a new bcm. I just recently found my seat relay box was shot, loose solider, burn marks and crack. I'm hoping that's where my issues are coming from. If anyone knows anything about switching a newer style bcm over any help would be appreciated. I also have up dated my pcm to a newer one 2002, which I had to repin it. Thanks guys for your help.

What connector and pin is this ABSTCS wire in the 97?
Just looked at 97 and B7 grounds relay 37 in the engine fuse box that then powers the EBCM.
The bcm said it was for 99-04. Is there a different spot to put these wires or will I have to do something different. That explains why my abs light turns on with the newer bcm but not the older one?
A quick look indicates the newer BCMs do not have that grounding design.
What you will need to do is add a relay that gets power to the coil when the ignition is ON. The relay contacts will need to take that wire and ground it.
Ignition ON power if easy to get in the passenger foot well by the factory accessory wires there. I have that info also.
If you want to do this it is simple and low cost. I can help you with relay selection. It just needs to be a 12 volt and 10 amp or higher rating. It is just to ground the relay 37 coil and not ground or power the actual EBCM.
Do you know how to remove the terminal from the connector? If not, look at an LMC5 eBay ad and watch their video. Better than just cutting into it, but your choice. I can answer any questions you have.
If you want the schematic to verify I can do that. As verification, you can actually temporarily ground that wire and then start the car and you should have no ABS light. Just remove the ground when you turn the car OFF or you will drain the battery since the coil will stay energized as long as the Gray wire is grounded.

Thanks guy's you are great. I do have the tools to remove wires from connectors and have done it bunch. Im aware of the wires that are in the passenger side foot well, good thing is both ends were there so it will be easy to tap into. Now hopefully i can figure out this tech 2.
