What to look for?
I am new to the corvette scene but i am thinking of buying a 2000 C5 convertible, 6 speed with 113K miles on it. I am doing an even trade for a 2002 Ford Lightning w/ 125K miles that I have.
The car looks really good inside and out and runs out fine but other than that I don't really have a clue what to look for. Everything on the car is stock.
Some things I have noticed on the car..
- the lower pulley makes a sound and moves slightly when the car first starts and then it goes away,
- the right front head light will open and close fine but makes a noise as if it is still trying to close after it is closed,
- The emergency brake doesn't seem to hold that well,
- The power antenna will not go down once the car is off,
- The A/C blows very cold while moving but no so much at a stop light. Although it was 100* yesterday.
Those are just a few things I have noticed and I had put 300-400 miles on it this weekend. What else should I look for, what of the items above should I be concerned about?
Thanks,
Donnie

Good luck with it!

Sounds like the gear in the headlight motor is going bad and needs replacement.
The emergency brake can be adjusted, but that may or may not be the cause of the problem. You would just have to look at it to know what will make it work like it should.
As for the power antenna, it may just need cleaning on the antenna shaft or is may need new parts. Again hard to say which will be required. If you are really serious about the purchase, I could send you some files I have on fixing the antenna if you PM me your e-mail address.
Good luck in your decision. As with any purchase, take into account things that need to be fixed when you make an offer.
Good luck!
