Default New first time vette owner

Hey all, finally got a C5Z! I've wanted one of these since I starting driving cars and I finally got one!!

I've been all over the forums the last week absorbing all this knowledge you guys have all collected and shared, thank you all!

I have a few TLC projects to do on my new (used) vette and one was lowering it from what appears to be stock height. I found guides and everything - I just haven't found a few bits of info yet and was hoping I could clear some of it up and finally say hi....

1.) "Lowering on Stock bold" - are there aftermarket ones? I can't find anything..
2.) "removed lowering bolts" - simply remove the bolt to get max stock lowering?
3.) Any kind of formula like x threads = 1" lower on stock setup?

Congrats and nice car....You can remove the front bolts to get the max lowering there. The back bolts you can't remove. They do make longer bolts for the back and that should get you scrapping the grass. The fronts you can get after market as well but they are basically the same thing you have now except the rubber spacer is cut off. I don't have a formula I used but a trial and error kind of thing. Adjust a little here and there until you're happy with it and then get an alignment done. You go to low though and your ride comfort will suffer. But that's just me as I didn't care for the ride quality when lowered to much. So I raised mine back up a bit. Good luck.

Congrats on a nice looking Z!

Plenty of threads on lowering a C5. Yes, there are lowering kits (bolts) from various suppliers, but you really need to get coil overs if you are going that route as your shocks will bottom out too quickly otherwise = evil handling on the street.

I lowered mine on stock bolts, not quite all the way...and cut 1/3 of the bushings on the rear. Very happy with ride and handling and looks better that stock ride height IMO (see pic).

Welcome to the asylum!

Thanks for the info guys!

I will be posting again in a few days with another issue but need to gather up all my info yet. MS4 cam initial idle on start is very bad but I'm still checking common things like vacuum leaks

wow,, nice looking hot rod Z... Most of the time the low/rough ideal can be cleaned
up by spraying/cleaning you TB & same to your MAF. You can get spray cleaners for them at any local parts store, or wallyworld..
Good luck with your new ride..

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the family. Are the rear wheels smaller than the front or am I being decived by the rear wheel wells.

Now get rid of those body side moldings. I'm a tad partial to yellow:

275 in the front and 295 in the rear - so just a bad image.

That is a nice yellow vette you have there! I think I will remove the side molding!

Thanks I was on the fence, but glad I pulled them off. Gives the car a much smoother look IMO.
