Bought myself a Spiral Grey 2004 Vert at the end of May
I was told by the previouse owner, that the motors for both doors that operate the windows were replaced already.
When the drivers window is fully down and I'm power it back up, I can see the panel (towards the mirrors side) start to bulge out quite a bit as the window gets towards the top. I then hear a noticiable "snap" or a "pop" from within the door when the panel goes back to it's original position. It doesn't happen to the passenger window.
I took a look inside from the top of the door only, right at the spot where I see the panel starting to buldge out (not removing the panel) to see what it could be. Nothing is really standing out. But it happens every time and it's bugging the hell out of me.
Help is appreciated.
Neven, not sure exactly what is causing your bulge, but here is a video showing how to remove the door panel if/when you want to investigate further.............
Sounds like there may be an issue with the window modulator install - taking the door panel off is easy so I'd take it off as have a "look see". You'll need to keep the window controls hooked up to move the window up and down. There are several adjustments on the window and only one correct way to install the modulator with the two drive cables crossing each other. Did my window modulator a couple of months ago - not complicated but could be easy to f-up if in a hurry or not match-marked when removing the old one.
Mine does that, too. Maybe not as much as you describe and without any snapping noise. Open both doors when powering the windows up after the top has been put up. It helps with the wear on the window regulator because the windows rub hard on the top seal because of loose large tolerances for the water seals on a c5.
