So we had been on the road for about 10 days - and it was hot, but Tuesday morning I went to get something from my car and found the rear deck flag emblem lying on the hatch with its adhesive half brother slimy and still stuck to the car. Has it been that hot?
In addition, it seemed the black surface material on the emblem was wrinkled and when I tried, it came right off.
I'm calling this melted?
No idea how in the heck this could happen - and the front emblem is showing similar signs!
My car doesn't live in the sun but after a few days on the road ... this?
I cleaned off the mess left behind by the backing/adhesive twin of this Siamese nightmare only to go online to learn that replacing these things is not too different from lighting firecrackers with 20 dollar bills! Who makes these things? The Emperor himself?
I assume I'm not alone on this and would really appreciate learning where the best replacements can be found.
Thanks.

I'm in the same boat. On my front emblem the flag on one side has come up about half way and is now curved and wont go back down. I cant find replacements other than replacing the whole emblem or getting the aftermarket carbon fiber flags.

I haven't seen any vendor selling replacement inserts - only overlays to the existing stock inserts. You might want to post a wanted to buy thread in the C5 Parts for Sale section and see if someone has a complete set of emblems you could pick up cheap or just some spare inserts that they have gathered up from replaced emblems. I had some of the inserts but have given them out over the years.
About the only other option is to buy new emblems, but they do ask a hefty price for them.
Mine were faded as well but I chose to replace them with these chromed metal emblems...about $80/pair as I recall.. but they look pretty natural on the car.

Those look great do you remember where you bought them. Would like to do the same. Thank you in advance.
Give Susan Huang an email and she will get back to you with a total for the ones you want. Email is ambakershut@yahoo.com. She might not respond right away so give her time. I spent $89 for 2 of them. They come flat like the back emblem so you will have to bend the front one to contour to the front bumper if you want it that way. Some people have just installed it flat and don't have a problem that I know of. I bent mine a little to form to the front bumper a bit better. Good luck.
