Hello all. New to the forum but have owned a vette before. Use to own a c4 and now in the market for a c5z. I tore my achilles and am in a walking boot, left foot. I was going to look at an 02 QS with 41xxx but wondering if I should hold off on buying one until out of the boot because it would be too difficult and unsafe. This would be my DD so can't buy it and let it sit until out of the boot.
The clutch really needs to just about reach the floor for full disengagement. I don't think you can get enough travel with a walking boot and you won't have any feel for the pedal. If someone came over to buy my car and was wearing a walking boot, they wouldn't be test driving it for themselves.
I've had a walking boot and wouldn't attempt to drive my Vette with one. Is the ankle articulating or fixed (mine was fixed)? Maybe your walking boot is different than what I had but I had a big bulky device on my leg. With a size 12 shoe, there wasn't enough room for me to operate a clutch.
I had a similar issue, left foot in a walking boot. You cannot (at least I couldn't) drive a 6M with the boot. My Dr. told me it was okay to remove the boot for driving, but I had a torn tendon in my arch not an Achilles problem.
A VP at a company I used to work for had a prosthetic leg and somehow apparently got it wedged sometime after getting into his car in the parking lot. When he put it in drive his car went thru a fence, down the hill into the water drowning him. So if you do drive be very careful and consider if an accident should happen, even if not your fault, how the lawyers would play that up blaming you.
