Normally when this happens it is the IPC interface/motherboard and not the actual switch. Do the lights on the buttons still illuminate?

Does the IPC DIC display work and show info normally?

I have worked on several of these issues. The fact you have power to the lights means the connector is still in place so we can rule that out at the moment.

Before I get into more info, I suggest you disconnect the battery for several minutes and see if that reboots the IPC electronics. Easy and free to try.

Every one I have worked with before tried to replace the DIC switch and it did not fix the issue. They had to replace the IPC. The motherboard controls this interface and unfortunately it also houses the mileage. Replacing the IPC will require having that
reset.

Replacing the IPC is not really a big deal and would just take a few hours the first time. Just bag and tag the fasteners so you know where they go.

Marc at VetteNuts.com can get you a good used IPC or DIC switch. He is a well known Forum vendor here.

If you want to see what it takes to do this I have provided al link you can look at.

http://www.vetteessentials.com/instr...zel_howto.html

Here is a link to also show you the big green motherboard I am talking about.

PS: If you have a manual tranny, you don't have to remove the shift **** and boot. I can tell you how to get around that if you need it.

Let me know if I can help further with anything. I also don't mind talking on the phone if you need to.

The problem with mine was the reset button had been pushed too hard and it was engaging the circuitry and not allowing the other buttons to respond when pushed. The fix was to carefully "pry" the button out a little. The other buttons then began responding and activating the display properly. Every now and then it will "lock" the other buttons out (no response from other buttons) and I will simply pry the reset button out a little and all is well again. I don't know if this is your problem but could be worth checking out before the money starts flying...lol...I thought mine was a lost cause until I found the culprit thanks to the forum. . . .best of luck to ya!

Not the dash pad. Look at the info I provided that told you how to do it. If you want to do it by removing the dash pad here is that info. You might find it easier when trying to deal with the connectors. Just bag and tag fasteners either way you go.

Yeah....I stick my finger(nail) behind the larger edge of the button and "pry" it out a little. I pulled it completely out one time exposing a socket that the button pushes into. If I recall correctly, the button I pulled out was a wedge shape on the back side that shoved right back into the "socket". It had no electrical purpose directly, but pushing it in caused the "socket" to engage the circuit board underneath. When I pushed it back in, I pushed it very gently into place and only went far enough to keep it in the socket. (Of course you want to line it up with the other buttons so it looks right). I also pushed on the "socket" with the button out and that is when I found out the problem was not the switch or computer, etc but simply the unwanted engagement of the reset button all the time which would not allow the other buttons to send their signal when pushed. I now just pry it out a little when my display acts up or won't respond and she goes right back to good as new. I try now also to "gently" push all those buttons when I push them and so far it is only the "reset" button that has the problem. I will finish with this observation.... when I 1st pry it out, the next time I push it in to reset something, it is very sensitive and stiff feeling and responds very nicely. As time goes on it will loose some of its responsiveness and eventually get to the point I pry it out again. I should get a new one and will one day, but it still works with this adjustment for now. I hope this can help your situation because it sure is nice when the system works right and it doesn't cost an arm and leg to get it working!....

I wish the fix would have been that easy for you. I did have one other thought. Could it be possible one of the other buttons was the culprit? I would assume they all push in the same way and one of them could have "engaged" the circuitry and hung up. Mine just happened to be the "reset" button that was involved. Anyway, the bottom line is finding the root cause and getting the old girl back to functioning if you use that particular feature as much as I do. Best of luck to ya!

I have seen a couple of cases where stuck buttons caused an issue. However, I have never seen a DIC switch failure prevent all DIC functions from working. It would be nice if that were the case for you. You can try a replacement DIC switch but be prepared to get another IPC.

Good luck, let us know what happens or if we can help further.

You don't know the IPC is working fine. You know certain functions do. You have the same DIC symptom I have worked on several times. In all cases it was the IPC and not the DIC switch.
