When turning the ignition to on position but not "start" I used to hear the pump primer sound but now do not. Then when turning key to start the engine it will crank for maybe 3 seconds before it catches and runs. In the past it would start almost right away. There seems to be no other symptoms such as fuel starvation, rough running etc. even under full throttle. No codes are shown for any modules. The battery is 1 yr old and fully charged. I have not done any recent mods or repairs. Any thoughts or advice appreciated! Thanks.
I sort of wondered about a clogged fuel filter also. I replaced it last year and have always used Sunoco 93 . It started happening after my last fill up. At that time I added Techron to an almost empty tank and then pumped 8 gallons and added Seafoam in the hopes of distribution to both tanks. Fuel gauge shows a little more than 1/2 tank at this time.
Just went out and started it and heard the primer and relay sounds and started right away. So it is not consistently happening.

Do you wait for the gauges to finish their sweep before engaging the starter? I do that and it starts quicker if I do.

Yes, almost always and I listen for the click and whirr sounds. I don't hear anything when it takes longer to start. Then, briefly it is like I'm out of fuel.
56000 Seems soon for that to go. Is there just 1 pump or 2 (1 for each tank)?
I think there is only one and it siphons from one tank to the other. I guess the only way to tell is check fuel pressure in different situations. My wifes car would die once in awhile. Finally it would not start at all. Towed it to the shop and it started right up for them. The tech called and said it was OK. The tech called me back later and told me it would not start. They checked fuel pressure and it was fluctuating from zero to whatever. Bad fuel pump.
There are two pumps. On the left is the primary pump which develops pressure and is electric. In the right tank is non electric pump. It is called a jet pump. Part of the pressurized fuel is fed to this jet pump and it draws/sucks fuel out of the tank (like sucking on a straw) and puts it into the left tank. The design is to empty the right tank first.
