Ok, love the Z06 but the trunk is an echo chamber and a lot of road/tire noise comes in when you are cruising 80+ mph...Planning a longer trip in the near future with my better half who was complaining of having to talk too loudly to be heard at speed.
So she came up with the perfect long trip mod: A king size bed down comforter spread out in the cargo area. I know you can add all kinds of sound deadening but this works easily as well. The engine/road noise dropped 20-30% at highway speeds; so much so that now wind noise is the first thing you notice instead of engine/road noise. I still love the sound of the car for short trips so I would prefer to keep it's original character in the city but this is a great option for long trips IMHO. And you don't have to rip up your carpet to install this one!
Re: Perfect temporary Z06 'mod' for long trips (Bertrand)
Actually I use a wool blanket, the old GI kind. Also with luggage in the back the wool blanket over the items in the back gives curious eyes less to look at also.
