finally after 149K mi my TCS/ABS light came on and stays on.(cannot reset).. I have some of my buddies tell me to use ABSfix and that is the most cost effective route to go.. How about some of your experiences w this. Also, looks fairly straight forward to remove, reinstall.... Feedback appreciated.
i sent mine to absfix and got it back within a week. Taking it off and putting it back on pretty simple, just take your time and if you have big hands expect some skinned up knuckles.
Call ABSFixer, talk to Brandon. Tell him your codes. Most likely, he'll tell you to send it in, he can fix it.
I put my C5 up on jack stands. Got some of the (torx) head screws out easily from top, some from the bottom were easier. Also, you unhook the two wire connectors. Easy from bottom. Doable from top.
Got mine back in just 4 or 5 days. No problems since.
You did not provide the year of your car. There are many places that work on 01-04 units. There is only one I know of that works (or did) on early versions and he requires you to bring the car to him. He goes by the name ChuckCow.
A good while back I saw one shop that said they worked on 2000's but I can't seem to find them again.
Regardless, there are some issues that cannot be fixed by anyone and require a replacement unit. Only 01-04 units can still be purchased new.
i bought one from the parts for sale section here.
hands are too big to get a good angle to generate enough torque to remove 3 of the screws (to separate the dry from the wet side.)

Thankfully I've never had an EBCM problem on any of my C5s, but there have been many posts here on the forum about the absfixer fixing those that did have problems.

if you already got it off it's pretty simple to open up and fix the relay which is more than likely the cause, same thing happened to my car... most cars just need to have the relay resoldered, I had 3 broken solder joints on mine... I also have an extra relay laying around if that happens to be the problem... no sense in paying the $150+ if it is in fact that relay
wow... thank you!! Can I make arrangements to meet with you one day this week? Can you look at it and tell? My talents and mechanical skills are limited..
I can come to you in Plano.... May I PM you my cell #?

yeah you can pm me no problem... I could probably meet up with you sometime or I can try to walk you through it if you want to try to tackle it... looking at the pic you posted near your pinky finger there is a small hole filled with silicone... remove that silicone and get a bolt that you can force thread into that hole (or tap a hole if you have taps then thread in the correct size bolt) and it will start separating the case... the case is siliconed together so it will give a little bit of a fight... once it's separated enough you should be able to pry it apart... once apart you can see the little relay and most likely a few broken solder joints... on my car just a few dabs of solder fixed it right up, and worst case just solder in a new relay... take a look at this thread it has detailed pics of what you need to do, https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...r-fleabay.html ... just let me know and if you do need the relay I have one that I bought for mine just in case but ended up not needing it
Took Neutron's advise and reinstalled my EBCM to check codes... Everything is pointing to a rear wheel speed sensor... as I recall, I hit a pretty good bump in the road on the right passenger side that last time I drove it hard... The codes automatically popped up and I "assumed" it was the dreaded EBCM as the original unit has 149K mi on it.... Gonna jack the car up and check the speed sensors... Wish me luck!!
