I'm looking to buy these for the rears. Anyone have these just for street use? Are they a noisy tire? Do they handle well? I have firestone wide oval and there's a lot of road noise plus I'm just looking for a wider tire. I have 265/40/17 up front.

That's what I'm running and I really like them. Good handling and traction with pretty good tread wear. I don't think they are noisy, but I have Borla Stinger exhaust that's a little loud.

Ran them at the track and they were sticky and wore well. Quite noisy but for me that's not an issue.

So between the toyo r888 and the tq which would be better for less road noise?

I run these, they're quiter than my daily tires which is the BFG KDWs, I personally haven't noted them as being noisy.

do you track the car? its a bit tall for my setup, i go through the 1/4 at 138mph with about 1500rpm unused. ideally would be better off on a 26"

I have them. Yes, they are noisy as hell, but a great tire. I have the stock TI exhaust, and AR 1 7/8" long tubes on my 640 WHP supercharged setup, and since my exhaust note is fairly quiet, I hear the noise quite a bit more. Just gives me a reason to turn up the stereo though.

I have the R888 40/275 fronts, and 35/305 rears.

So I guess all these performance tires have road noise? These firestone wide ovals are very noisy.

What mods do you have? What are you putting down to the tires?

I'm guessing you are making pretty big power to want 315s in the rear? FWIW, 295s are more than adequate for bolt on, heads / cam power. Have you looked into the Michelin PS2 tires? They are fairly quiet, come in the stock ZO6 OEM tires, and are a good street tire.

Didn't someone on here say Michelin was discontinuing the PS2 295/40/18 rear size? Tire rack shows them on backorder.

Stock is 295/35/18. I'm not sure if they are discontinuing them - they may be.

Are you just wanting a wider tire for looks? As I stated earlier, 295s are plenty for bolt on power, and will handle quite a bit better than the 315s you are contemplating, at your power level.

What tires will you be running up front? The Michelin PSS has been a great tire for me so far with excellent traction/handling for a street tire with minimal road noise and actually ride pretty nice.

I run the Proxes TQ in those sizes on my car. No problems at all. With a 383, long tube headers and GHL exhaust. I don't hear any tire noise.

Which line of tire are you looking at in that size?
