So I picked up my first corvette yesterday, at 23 years old, I get some strange looks and some of my friends call it an old man car but its so much more fun of a car than my '06 cammed/bolt on GTO, in a totally different way, plus insurance is quite a bit cheaper! The GTO is very refined interior wise and sounded awesome, but when I get done with this car it'll sound and run even better! '02 Z06 with 24k miles traded in on a newer grand sport. I got a pretty darn good deal on it too! It certainly pays off to be a hardass with the dealer, especially when the sales manager is pretty unreasonable to say the least. got extremely lowballed on trade in offer, when 2 other dealers offered up to $4500 more, and then I gave up on trade in deals and went for a straight up sale on the car and made an offer $450 below asking price when the car had already been on the lot for 90 days and they dropped the price 3 times in 2 weeks, I knew they wanted to sell it and I made them what I thought was a very fair offer. I got turned down, told me the typical "we're losing money at this price as it is" line, I said you can sit on the car for all I care, yada yada long story short after a couple more calls from them at home I explained to them how unreasonable it was to try and make me pay asking price for a car I knew they wanted to sell, and that the offer I made was fair enough, being as it does need rear tires. they then wanted to meet halfway between the asking price I said no I have NO interest in it unless its for my offered buying price, as I didn't NEED to buy a corvette, I told them it had been a very poor experience with the dealer and that the sales manager needed to get his act together if he wanted to make sales easier for his customers, and that you lost a sale on a car over 450 bucks when you could have gotten it off your lot. I told the salesman to tell his sales manager how I felt about how I was treated by his offers and attitude, he called back 2 hours later and said "all of us at the dealership apologize for giving you a poor experience and we didn't mean to come off the wrong way, so we've decided to accept your offer" and that was that!
Congrats! I just bought my 2001 4 days ago and love it. Unfortunately, I'm not 23 years old but I'm not an old geezer yet either. You have a nice car! I bought mine from a private party and usually as a rule, I try to stay away from the dealerships. In the few days I've been on this forum, there have been some extremely helpful people who actually got me through some situations I had with the Vette. They saved me a chunk of money and I'm grateful to each and everyone of them.
Congratulations on your new to you Corvette. Way to go sticking to your like you did, and not letting the salesman push you around. Have fun and remember to wave. Very
These cars may be old but even compared with new sport cars their still near the top in preformance. Not many cars can boast over 400hp and weight only 3000 pounds.
Old mans car? Came up with that 'cause its certainly not a family car and priced way too high for a first car. Old guys (with fat wallets) are the only ones that can afford a new Corvette.
You bought a beauty Corvette. Yellow is such a happy color, gotta love it. Wishing you many happy experiences with your new baby. Greetings, Rob
Congrats on the Vette! Enjoy! (I'm positive you will). That 'old mans car' crap is just that; crap. Let 'em drive their matcbox cars with fartcans on 'em. Enjoy the C5 and just smile at 'em.

Congrats on not letting the dealer you and getting the car for the price you wanted to pay. Car looks great and should be a real blast to drive for years to come.
Congratulations, I too was 23 yrs. old when I bought my first Corvette, , enjoy the experience of being part of the tradition, racing history, and brotherhood of Corvette ownership !! When possible, always acknowledge another Corvette driver with the 'Wave' !!
