I pulled out of the garage today and my girlfriend asked me what this is that was under the car. It looks like it might have been on a parking brake cable to prevent chaffing.
I am still working on my parts list to change all the fluids and will be lifting the car soon. I guess I need to try and find one of these to replace the one that appears to have dry rotted and fallen off. Anyone know what this is?
Just took a look under the rear of mine: there's a boot that looks roughly like that on the inner end of one of the rear suspension links*, where it attaches to the cradle. No idea why it would need one, but so it goes.
(*I have no idea what the name of that link is, but if it was on the front I'd call it a tie-rod...appears to be the toe-in/out control/adjustment.)
Hmm, I wonder if it is the bump stop on the Shocks like in this picture. If so, it is very weak for a bump stop.
Upon further review, that looks more like OP's part than the widget I was looking at.
That said, either those are aftermarket shocks or mine are, because mine don't look anything like that.
