Default Help I have a $2000 budget.

I need some suggestions. I have a $2000 budget for street/track tires and or wheels. The type of track that has turns in it. I'm more worried about performance on the track. I do not care about wear, noise, etc.

02 Z06 with just under 500 hp. It has an semi aggressive street alignment and is at stock height but will be lowering on stock bolts soon.

So what do you suggest? Decent wheel tire combo, rear factory wheels in front for the squared look , C6 wheels if they fit???...... I'm having a real hard time finding a good size with decent tire selection.

My main concern is I do not want tires sticking out of the wheel wells and no chrome or polished type.

That's a very low budget for wheels and tires. Suggest looking at used wheels and best tires you can buy.

I agree. I am more concerned with the tires but I am just having a hard time finding sizes to put on for the track.

I was going to go with 275/40/17 305/35/18 on stock wheels but tires are limited.
I can get rear z06 wheels for about $600 dollars and square the tires up but I'm not sure if it's worth it.
C6 wheels might open up more selection if they fit properly.

You should find your local car club that autocrosses and talk with the guys who know the business.

Get some factory Z06 wheels and fit the tires to them.

Since you want to track it, I would not get the cheaper wheels. You are right, tires are extremely important.
I like the 18" and 19" combo, which is what I have. However, my wheels alone cost more than your entire budget.
Just look for some used wheels. Do not have to be forged necessarily (though preferred), but need to be high quality wheels for track use.

You can get Michelin Pilots Super Sports or Cup tires for less than 2K, so that budget is fine for tires. If you can score used wheels, might be in business. I would stay away from the $ 800-1000.00 wheel sets for track use. Would be bad for one to crack in a corner.

I was thinking 401k, mutual funds, or Roth IRA, lol.

Check area junk yards for good used wheels. Then more money is left for quality tires.
