Default running 275 vs 265 in front .. issues

stock 295 in back, either 265 or 275 x 35 x 18 in front, any issues this will cause....265x35/18 is same diameter as stock 17" tire. would I get understeer, oversteer or ??? thanks.

stay 265 35 if you can. proper offset and split with a 295 35 18

275 will raise the front a bit and add a very very small amount more grip, both = increased understeer

I thought of 275 ibecause there is more sidewall height which give more cushion...265 has less than 4" of sidewall and the 275 has slightly over 4" which is closer to stock 17 inch wheel. don't really want the understeer even though I don't track car, thanks.

I noticed no difference going to 275/40/17 Nitto NT05, doesn't look weird either

it's overall diameter i was looking at. 265 35 18 and 265 40 17 have a nearly identical diameter

if you want cushion use a soft sidewall tire like the conti dw. they are a very comfort oriented sport tire and really not all that bad of a performer

very quick tires like the michelin pss has a much better turn in, stability and overall limit, but, they do ride a bit more firm.

my vote is still to get the pss but i will admit the dw is a softer sidewall tire and like going to feel more compliant...keep in mind the drawbacks of compliant sidewalls before you buy

I bought the DWs last month and HATE them, to squirmy and unsure feeling for me so going to PSS, tire rack has back order on back tires and discount doesn't list them but will check for me. I mis spoke in that the 265/35/18 has 3.65" sidewall and the 275/35/18 has 3.76 and the stock 265/40/17 has 4.17 sidewall.

Have you considered Toyo R888s, 275/40/17 fronts, 305/35/18 rears? It may be overkill for your setup, but works well for mine.

Adding more grip up front means adding more "oversteer"....

Understeer - front loses traction in turns
Oversteer - rear loses traction in turns

All adjustable if you have adjustable sways front and rear...

I have 275's up front, no issues though the sidewall is tad taller then I like visually....

I have BFG G Force KDW's all the way around - 275 front and 295 rears ..

No issues

My car is also lowered on the stock lowering bolts as well.

YMMV

275/35/18 and 305/30/19 is a great combo. Note, this is a plus 1 in diameter arrangement.

Running this on my Z and it is SWEEEET.

It's been awhile since I moved away from the stock sizes but you'll notice more of a difference just on the fact that you replaced the tires. It doesn't change the car really IMO.

Now I used NT05 for a long time (275/295) but recently moved to R888 (275/305).
With the 305 rear I swear it's feels softer.

i can't believe i made that mistake. you're correct on the grip at least

raising the front height will add understeer which must have been the thought on my mind when i said those two things

I am running 275/35/18 up front, But I am running 305/35/19 DR's out back soooo I don't know how much this would help you. But It rides perfect, I am assuming you are worried about the TC going wacky because of the tire heights! As long as you keep it over a 1/4 taller out back you are fine...

there isn't one. this is absolutely the best 275/295 combo for the z06. the 275 is slightly short and the 295 slightly tall making it nearly identical to the 265/295 OE tires in height, the nt05 is just a hair wider up front but the square sidewall gives the appearance of a perfect fit

100% my vote for someone wanting a cosmetically correct OE replacement tire on the c5z. before i went 19/18 for the pss i was considering the nt05 simply because they look so good on the stock wheels and are 90-95% of the performance of the slightly undersize 285/255 hankook rs3

sure the DW is better in rain but it is much less responsive & worse in the dry

I run 275/35/18 in front a 9.5 wheel and a 295/35/18 rear on a 10.5 wheel, tires are a Michelin PSS.

I had the Conti DW, hated them....felt like marshmallows. Sent them back to Tire Rack.

My car feels balanced, if you don't track the car and have that set of senses tuned very high I doubt you would notice any push(understeer) on the street unless you had badly mismatched tires.
