Fro a while now I have noticed my HUD being "dim" on sunny days. Trying to figure out what was going on...sun behind me...sun in front of me...etc. Nights was very good and sometimes during the day very good. Then I found the solution!!! Change sunglasses. Seems that polarized sunglasses "dim" the HUD. Went to Target bought some cool looking FGs for 19.99 that are not polarized. Problem solved!!!
However, polarized sunglasses are better for your eyes since they filter random light that your pupil does not adjust for. They are also safer because they reduce glare. There's a tradeoff for everything . . .

This! I put in a HUD last year but I'd rather my eyes not take a beating during the day.
