Finally FREE after 90-days of Insurance Tracker monitoring!
I can finally get back to driving "safely" instead of like a School Bus causing accidents! Really sick of getting honked at in an attempt to meet these ridiculous braking standards for a Corvette!
NO NEED TO BEAT ME UP AGAIN FOR AGREEING TO THIS - I ALREADY GOT POUNDED IN THE LAST THREAD!
Looks like about 13% Discount is the most anyone is going to get in a Corvette as a DD. I would challenge anyone with a Corvette to get a higher score over 90 days driving the car every day.
The way they define "Hard Braking" is a joke. At no time did I ever apply more than 50% pedal pressure and OVER HALF of the Hard Braking incidents were less than 1-second - one while pulling out of the garage! ABS NEVER engaged, or even close.
I did have ONE RAPID ACCELERATION ding for going from 14.3mph up to a blistering School-Zone speed in 1-Second (to avoid getting rear-ended by a truck).
This was a great exercise in collecting mostly "Junk Data". 30% claimed discount was the maximum offered. I only drove an average of 5-1/2 miles per day (they say excessive mileage can lower discount).
My guess is the 13% Discount will be added to the obligatory upcoming premium increase - we will see!
R-RATED - NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART:
The only real emergency stop was the one recorded on 7/6/15. I was headed down the Loop going 9 mph under the speed limit when I noticed that a pickup truck in front of me had a large (what I thought was a) tool chest door bouncing up and down at the back of the flat bed. There was a common West Texas wind storm at the time, so I figured it was just flapping in the breeze. Then all of a sudden I noticed what looked like something (or someone) inside the chest trying to push the door open. Turns out it was a Pit Bull that had been put inside, trying to get out, but by the time I realized what it was, the big dog took a flying leap out of the tool chest, over the back of the truck and onto the highway at 60-mph! As soon as I saw that it was a dog landing on his head on the pavement, I hit the brakes. GETS WORSE! After the dog's initial hit, he started bouncing up in the air - that's right, the owner had his collar on a long metal chain anchored in the truck! After about 5 bounces (by the neck), the chain broke and the dog landed right in front of my car. The truck driver, just kept going. To my disbelief, the dog got up and tried to walk away (I won't describe the shape he was in, but I could not believe what was left of him was alive). Then he took off limping onto the other side of the highway. Still having nightmares about watching that scene. Only a Pit Pull with a neck the size of my waist could have survived that incident.
Had I not slowed down and run over the poor dog, I would have received a higher Insurance Discount!
...we need to boycott this crap before it's used in mass. The next step from there is seeing it shoved down our throats as "required" by certain companies and/or for certain classes of cars.

I would say previews of coming attractions but it's here already. Damn this tech crap.

I agree, but if/when the government get lobbied by insurance companies to make something like this "mandatory" it will have nothing to do with an optional/voluntary precursor program like this. THEY WILL JUST DO IT behind closed doors and ram it through like Obamacare with no discussion.
Just like Farmers Insurance upping my rates last year after 35 years with them (with no accidents or tickets) to where my C5 premium was double what I am paying right now with Liberty Mutual (for now). There was no discussion, no appeal, no reason, no justification, they just sent me a massive rate increase because they could.
Obamacare has more than doubled my health insurance premiums (with higher deductibles than I had before) and I have never had a single claim with Blue Cross & Blue Shield in the past 35 years (since day-one). They did not need a pilot program to offer discounts to justify increasing their rate hikes or attach a "tracker" to my ankle to see if I set foot in a McDonalds to send my rates skyrocketing.

Ahhh U had to go O/T and involve Obama care.
So let me respond in kind.
One person Individual Policy (wife) BCBSF 1-1-2006 $535 P/M
Apr 2010 it was at $774 P/M same BCBSF policy
Apr 2012 bumped $200 to $1002 P/M same BCBS (FL Ins regulator allows +)
Apr 2013 bumped 250 to $1252 P/M same BCBS (FL Ins regulator 25% ^ is OK w/him)
Obamacare takes over 1-1-2014 goes down $323 P/M to $929 P/M BCBS
w/less co-pay & less out-of-pocket + increase coverage. Plan #1424.
I remember signing up for BCBS and my own premium was like $4 bi-weekly back in the day. My advice...keep working till Medicare kicks in cause if you go solo w/individual plan on health care U will pay, no matter what.
All that got you a 13% discount which is good, but I'll just keep those tracking devices out of my cars. The savings to me aren't worth the hassle.
They guarantee 5% just for participating and I am guessing that is what over 90% of the participants get.
If I had it to do over, I would pass for a "theoretical" 13% discount. Discounts don't mean much when they are issued in advance of the next Premium notification (since they will probably just hike the premium to cover the discount - we will see). I really figured if anyone could achieve the 30% maximum in a Corvette that it would be me, but to reach that level you would have to park it in the garage for 90-days - in which case you would not need insurance at all.
I usually do most of my grocery shopping after midnight (when it is the safest time to drive here with nobody on the roads except a few cops). This is the first time I have had a curfew in 50 years. I feel like I just got out of jail!
Never had as many close calls as I have had the past 90-days trying to drive for a discount!
From: Dear Karma, I have a list of people you missed.

Also remember, insurance companies do NOT care that you, or anyone else, has had coverage for <insert number of years here>. The number of claims certainly matter, but I think too many people (not you necessarily John) think they have somehow bought "good will" or "special consideration" come time for rate determination, or a claim to be made, because they have been a "good" customer for a long time and paid so much money over the years.
Their advertising would have us believe customer "loyalty" actually means something, but that's marketing hype.
So, did you ever have a chance to explain the hard braking and have them removed from the scoring system? If not you are being punish for someone else's poor driving and I have a REAL problem with that.......... ok I have a real problem with all of this, but I have a bigger problem with being punished for avoiding accidents.
I think my morning commute would take the discount down to 0% the very first day. Driving defensively is way safer than trying not to hit the brakes or the gas.
Glad to see you made it through the discount period and glad you were able to save something. Too bad about the dog, I hate to see them in the back of open trucks for just that reason.
