Yes, that is the way I would interpret it. You could always call the vendor to confirm.
But, honestly I would check with Marc at VetteNuts and see what he could sell you those two parts for. Would think it would be less than $65.
So it is not just me?
I already ordered these and received what I thought was the $40 hinge today (by itself), but I did not receive the latches? I was charged the $65 price ($77.95 out-the-door as I expected), so I assumed the plastic latch set was maybe shipping separately and just delayed. Therefore I contacted Corvette Mods to confirm that another shipment was coming. This was the response...
John
The listing is for a hinge OR a latch set, not both
Thanks
Corvette Mods
I am confused.
If you choose either option from the pop-up the MSRP stays the same (only the "Your Cost" updates) which further implies that the Hinge is an "Add-On' item and also since the pop-up says "+39.99" that further confirms to me that this is "in addition" to the latches shown when you load that page. If their Customer Service response is truly what they mean, then they should create two separate web pages for the two separate items or list two separate prices in the pop-up menu (without a "+" sign).
Then as a final stage of confusion, my Order Confirmation I received via email shows a "picture" of just the two latches (the 2 parts I never received) and the Description says "1997-2004 C5 Corvette Console Door Hinge AND Latch Parts". Then under that is lists "1997-2004 Console Door Hinge $40" (not +$40) which indicates to me that the hinge is an ADDITIONAL $40 on top of the latches.

I read the ad EXACTLY the same way as you. Buy the latch pieces and for an add-on price (hence the drop-down box with the "+" sign) and also receive the hinge.
If they are now saying these are two separate items, then they need to be listed SEPARATELY as you say.
This is why forums like this are valuable. The vendor should send you both parts for the $64.98 price, thank you for pointing out the confusion on their website, and make a change to their website.

Their Customer Service response just does not add up to me. About $40 for a hinge and about $25 for a latch set is about the average going rate for those parts on the Internet and that is about what I paid them - so I expected to get both.
Part of what I do is build eCommerce Sites for a living and anytime you have a pop-up with a "+" sign, that indicates that you are adding "items and price" to an entry. Otherwise, you could just have One-Page for your entire site with a pop-up menu that lists ALL the products on your site starting with the lowest cost item you offer and a mile-long string of +-sign adders!
This company is crap.
I made the mistake of recently ordering some parts from Corvette Mods. After having parts from other vendors ordered, shipped and received after my order with CM, I called to check the status. Customer service couldn't tell me anything but promised to send an email update. They didn't send an email so I called again to cancel the order (there's nothing on their web site for canceling orders) and was told if the part hadn't shipped it would be canceled. Well a little over a week after that conversation the parts arrived. The date on the label proved that the parts went out after I called to cancel. I called again to arrange a return and was told I must fill out their RMA form on their web site. I have a problem with that because essentially in completing their form you're submitting to their return policy which requires paying the original shipping charges. I'm not paying shipping for an item that was sent to me after it was canceled. I spoke with American Express and filed a dispute. Their direction was to call the vendor and try to resolve the issue but do not fill out the RMA form, ask for an email allowing the return and mail it back with a signature required. CM is absolutely unyielding with regards to authorizing returns without completing their form. They also made it clear that anything disputed with AmEx will be turned over to collections. So now I hold their parts in an unopened box awaiting direction from AmEx regarding the dispute. This is the first time in my life I've filed a dispute over a charge. I've never encountered an online company that made it so difficult to cancel and or return an order. Obviously I will never attempt to do business with them again.

Exactly. Such a shame too, I waited for them to respond and make things right at what was a unanimously felt opinion from fellow members, and nothing.
