I am the proud new owner of a 2004 C5 Corvette. It is the base model with the FE1 suspension. I am debating upgrading sway bars and shocks. However, I have a "selective ride" switch with Tour/sport settings on the console. In the glove box there are no other options (FX3, Z##)listed. I did a search and did not find this combination. What do I have? Which shocks were upgraded with the FE1? I just want to know what is in store for me if I change shocks. Thanks for any help.
The FE1 suspension is the base. The F55 added the magnetic controlled shocks which came out in 03 as a option. Very expensive to replace if they go bad. Look in your glove box for the F55 on the sticker.

F55 is not listed in the glove box. I did a VIN check and it is not listed there either. I agree that they are magnetic shocks but it is a mystery why they are not listed somewhere. Thanks anyways.
I went to GM vehicle inquiry system on the web. Put in the VIN and it comes back with the build info. Build date and options. My VIN shows an FE1 suspension with no other suspension options.
The answer the first question several posts ago. When I bought the car I put it through a dealer inspection. The dealer pulled up the VIN info and gave me the copy. The top of the sheet says "GM vehicle inquiry system". Sorry for any confusion.
The second answer is that of all the codes given in the above post, the only one in my glove box is FE1. No other FE# or Z# codes are on it.
I took the car to a local vette mechanic and he says he has seen the FE1 with the magnetic shocks installed. He advised also that they are very expensive. I am going to replace them. They work fine I am just going in another direction. They have 23K miles on them, any idea (if I am allowed to ask) what they are worth? I would put them on this site for sale.
