Default Sheesh - what now?

I went to my favorite gas station the other day to fill up the Z. I had put the pump on auto and was waiting for it to shut off. I had been on reserve and I figured it would tak 16+ gallons, but boy was I surprised when it just kept on going and DUMPED GAS ALL OVER THE SIDE OF MY CAR!

I took it to the wash immediately, and I will re-wax it this weekend, but what a pain. I told the cashier that it happened and she said "yea, that happens once in a while..."

This is the first time it has ever happened to me.

Anyway, I had to vent - and you folks are the only ones who really understand me :yesnod:

best regards -

Be thankful you didnt touch off a spark with all those fumes around.

I saw a guy start up filling with a jammed trigger/ Sprayed all over. car, pump, ground. That was a bomb ready to go. He was so flusterred he placed the nozzle back in pump and gas kept pumping. someone hit the red shutoff. lucky

Yup - its OK, but it did kinda ruin the moment.

BTW - here in Illinois most pumps have the little jam mechanism to let you hands-off fill.

I was standing there and hit it immediately. If I had been manually filling, much the same would have happened - it was a faulty pump as they are supposed to tur off with any backpressure.

A little wax and all should be well.

Hey levettegrl - going to the Z06 bash in BG? If maggie can get it off work we will be there - we are also going to the unfest in Effingham, although that would be quite a drive for you (shucky darn, gotta drive the Z)...

best regards -

A little splash back is nothing compaired to the seventy plus gallons I dumped on the ground while talking on the pay phone with the lever locked and the gas flowing. Money well spent!
