I have a 2002 Conv that needs a new top because rear window has separated. What kind of prices has anyone paid.....what is a fair price to replace? Thanks.
Not sure on the Vette, but we just replaced the top and rear glass to my wife's 1990 mustang GT. The total ran $1200(including labor) with an oem rear glass which cost $300. I know it's a different make and model, but hopefully that gives you an idea of where you might be for your Vette.
The rear window can be glued back in - several of us on the CF have done it. Reinstalling the existing window is less than $30 where a new top is $500+. Your call. I did mine last year about his time and have had no problems.
Been over 2 years now since I fixed the back glass on my top. I used the same glue that windshield installers use and has been holding up great. Awesome help on this forum because without the posts I would have had to replace the top. Good luck.
I wonder if there are any honest top shops out there. Very glad to read on here about the methods available to re-glue the rear glass.
I had a different problem - the seams that run front to back along the top were opening up. With the top up, if you stood near the outside door handle and then looked at the top - that is the general area.
So it took me a while to research adhesive products and settle on something. Clamping it for 24 hours on each side was tricky, but I used a home-made deep-reach clamp on one side. Used a Harbor Freight deep throat clamp on other side.
I know the OP did not ask this but at least for others it would have been nice if you replaced your top to tell us who made it.
I have seen posts where people were told they were getting an OEM quality top and they got junk. Did not even look close from the pictures posted. On top of that they got screwed on "restocking" fees and paying shipping for the return. I think I still have one such Thread at home.

Not that I need one yet, but yes it would be nice to know who makes quality tops when I do need one. And which tops to stay away from.
