Default Exterior Temp Reading

I have a '98 convertible and have noticed this year that my exterior temperature readings have been off, mostly when it is very warm outside. The reading usually is around 20 degrees off to the cooler side when it is in the mid 80's or above. I have a read a few posts that refer to the sensor located in the lower front near the radiator. Just wondering if anyone else has had this issue, and what you did to remedy it. Thanks in advance for any info!!

I am having the same problem but mine reads hotter than it is, if the temp is 70 my gauge says 80.

Try disconnecting the plug near the sensor and clean the contacts. It's up there where it gets a lot of water and grime. If it doesn't work, try the sensor.

Had the same problem with my previous '99. Eventually, your AC will quit working due to this bad sensor. Took mine in to the dealer expecting hundreds of dollars in repairs. They called me in about fifteen minutes later...........all fixed.......about $18.00 total bill! And that was at a dealership!!!!! I was pleasantly amazed as I thought it was going to ruin my trip to Cruise-In V at the museum in the next few days!!

And that is the ONLY pleasant dealer experience I have ever had!!
