Drove a Lamborghini Gallardo at the local fairgrounds. 6 (too short) laps. 95$ We were the last people to go for the day, so the guys pulled up the Ferrari and the Lambo for some pictures with my c5 =)
Too bad they're all automatics now. I drove a Ferrari F430 for 6 laps a couple of years ago and even though it was fun, I still wished it had the classic gated shifter on the center console.
I did the same thing a few weeks ago in Lodi...drove the Lambo. Both the Lambo and Ferrari were BEAT (I further helped them with that). I also found it strange how long the Lambo took to switch gears. It was still fun though!
I was struck by the price, I guess the ads I see for similar stuff have a very different overhead.
While I hav never driven a big bucks Italian car, I think I got as far up the ladder as Alfa, for a day of fun, the convertible is my choice.
Nice post. I sometimes rent a sailboat for fun, but never thought about a performance car. I guess that might be because you can put it up on it's side, even flip the thing over, and it doesn't effect your deposit. I like that part.
Short story. Back when I was 16, and in high school, I worked part-time at a car wash. There was a car accessories business in town that had a Lambo and a Ferrari on display.
Boss comes to me one day and says "come on we have to go pick up those cars and hand wash them and return them". Hell, just getting to see them up close at that age lit up my eyes.
Arrived at the business to pick them up, boss get's in the Ferrari, we leave with me following in his truck. From behind, it looks like he's struggling. 2 blocks away he pulls over, gets out and walks up to his truck. He says "you think you can drive that damn thing? The shifter is too damn small and the pedals are so close together my boots keep getting stuck on each other." I say "HELL YEAH I can drive it!"
Ended up driving both back and forth that day. I didn't wring them out hard but I did let them stretch their legs. Incredible cars. It's a day I'll never forget.
