I will address my way of evaluating belt(s) condition and others can share their ways or opinions. The first way is to simply look at your main drive tensioner pulley that shows how much belt wear has taken place on your existing belt, but this will not apply to your A/C belt condition or wear. Get a good flashlight and a good set of eyeballs(glasses) and inspect the ribbed portions of your belts for any major cracks, missing chunks of material or any build up of rubber collected on any of your ribbed pulleys/tensioners. My issue began with the main belt first starting to squeal and upon inspecting pulley's, tensioners and belts, I could absolutely tell that I needed to replace the A/C belt, it had several cracks in it. You can take a 15 mm socket/wrench and push tensioner towards throttle body and remove main belt off tensioner, then with belt in one hand you can simply turn the belt inside out while keeping light tension on belt and turn the belt in either direction to inspect. The A/C belt will require it to be removed in order to get a better examination of it's condition. After one go around playing with belts you will find that the whole inspection of belts will take 5-15 minutes. When in doubt of condition, replace it, especially the A/C belt !! Also, take another 5 minutes of your time and take a copper/stainless steel toothbrush and do a quick clean of ribbed pulley's (tensioner pulley, power steering pump pulley, harmonic balancer) to remove packed debris in the grooves.

P.S. Thanks LoneStarFRC for the follow up info,

Btw, I have Friday and Monday off this week. Guess what I'm doing?
Hopefully posting some updates and pics of your SC project!

Please, if anyone feels compelled to race, then do it alone, never with a child on board for obvious reasons.

I guess there needs to be a definition of children. To me a 20 year old isn't a child anymore.

, Scn1998; I was expecting that I would get some more uneducated responses from others, but apparently, some can not get past taking a 'Jab'. For those who don't the difference, on the West coast and most of America/World recognizes that after 17 years of age(18) that you officially become a adult. As for my adult daughter in college and working, she has over 10 years of driving race carts on the track and 5 years of cars on various local tracks (California speedway, Willow Springs, Button Willow, Streets of Willow, Laguna Seca, etc.). I tried to express to others about being accountable for my actions, but some just can't resist to have bandwagon mentality !! So, Mr. Z_corvette, if you would like, I could make arrangements for my 20 yr.old daughter to travel to the east coast and have her teach 'you' how to competitively drive those twisty's on the way to N.Y. on weekends while 'Not' breaking the speed limit in your Z/06 , no, better yet, Limerock, and watch her 'spank' you with her lap times !! Kyle, Don't be that 'pompous' Dude that makes 'Stupid' statements. Better yet, bring that Z/06 out here for vacation and I will show you how a near-stock 99' Z/51 FRC will out-handle/perform you with 45 yrs. of racing seat time !!

P.S. I say this with no malice of heart, just a 'Big' grin, retired LEO !!

Guys, I know Daryll (2FAS4UU) personally and he is as responsible and accountable an adult and parent as they come. He can take care of himself and doesn't need me to defend him but these kinds of internet are a bit ridiculous. Chiding the guy is pointless .

Keyboard finger-pointers that often don't read through a thread completely and thinking before making assumptions and pounding away.

There's always some dimwit in some "hot" car who wants to boast to his friends that he "beat" a Vette. I've even been tailgated on backroads by idiots in trucks and SUV's. One of those "gentlemen" found out the real difference between his Honda Pilot and a C5 when he tried to stick to my tail through a some sharp ess bends. Scared himself s***less I guess, as he dropped waaaay back after that.

I'm guessing he was too far back to see if he had green teeth?

What do you expect? How can someone who runs "spintech" mufflers not accelerate and race their vehicles? It appears the people in here ruffled your feathers Daryll. BTW- still haven't found a exhaust system. I had no idea your were a retired police officer? I have 30 years and currently in law enforcement myself. With that, why are these comments affecting you? If I had a dollar for every person that threatened me or spit at me, wanted to kill me, I would of retired 20 years ago. Most of the officers I work with have hi performance cars, Maserati, Porsche, etc. No, we aren't above the law, just love performance and fast cars. We are human just like anyone else. It's a job!!! I didn't buy a Corvette because I wanted to cruise, heck I could of kept my Toyota for that. We do have our benefits though... like free donuts!

Wonder if he would have hid behind his badge if he got pulled over? Or how many tickets he wrote to people doing the same thing.
