Default Need help in STL Missouri.

I need to have brakes and rotors replaced and brakes bled. Also need some mods put on. Anybody know a trusty shop or person that will do this work for me around St. Charles MO?

Try Craven Performance, 900 Harmsted Court, St Charles, MO 63301
(636) 397-1500.

Another option is Performance By Joe.

Thank you for the shops you listed... Have you ever been to Either of the shops or heard anything good about them? I don't want to take my Vette to a sketchy shop that doesn't hire qualified workers... If ya know what I mean

Miller Auto repair off of Little Hills Industrial Blvd. They've done plenty of work over the years on both my Corvettes, as well as my other vehicles. Fast Lane Classic Cars uses them all the time for repairs. 99% of the time they've done great work for me.

Ask for Mike or Joe Miller. Open M-F, 8-6. (636) 949-2534

I have not had any work done by either of these shops. But, I have been to Performance by Joe's shop before and just discussed things with him. He's a knowledgeable guy and based on other reviews I've seen here on the forum, he has an excellent reputation.

As for Craven Performance, they are a relatively new for forum vendor and I do believe there have been several reviews of their work posted here on the forum. I have not heard any negative reports about them.

As with any shop, I would talk with the staff in person to get a feel of how comfortable you would be with them working on your car. Take a tour of their shop too to see how things are organized (or not). Ask for references for prior work they've done and talk with those customers.

Good luck - hope you find a shop you feel comfortable with.

Do NOT go to Performance By Joe - the guy doesn't keep appointments, is completely unorganized, and does shoddy work. Not to mention he is a total *****, and has horrendous customer service.

The master Corvette tech at Elco Chevrolet - Bill, is the best guy to go to. Extremely thorough, ****, and particular with everything he does. The guy can fix anything, and also does monster builds on the side as well.

In addition to selling used Corvette parts, doesn't "Just Corvettes" in St. Charles also do repair work as well?

Well then things must have changed drastically since I was last there. It has been a few years so anything is possible. That's why I recommended a little face to face research before handing a car over to someone. The more recent feedback is appreciated though - it will certainly be a consideration if I ever needed work done.

Don't know what your capabilities are or your garage and tool situation, but it's not that hard to do and then you also have that satisfaction of "Ya Man I did this" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Face to face, he "seems" just fine. The issue is when he starts touching your car, if he ever keeps your "appointment". The reason I quoted the word appointment is, he seems to just not like to schedule hard appointment days / times - he typically just says "that should work, give me a call to confirm". Then, when you try to call, he never answers. So, last time this happened, of course I didn't show up, and then finally get a hold of him a week later, to actually give this clown a second chance, and he blames it all on me!

Of course, I don't use him anymore - as he is an embarrassment to legitimate shops.

Joe can be a PITA. But he knows his ****. Took a while for him to do the work on my car but it is perfect. He even came to my house and picked up the car.
I saw that Bill at ELCO was also listed above as a great source. Talk to bill about Joe.

Yes they do but I would only use them for parts. Every time I am by there they are working on other cars and trucks. Still waiting on some wheels from them, only been 3 months :-(

The crap that I had to deal with, with that clown is inexcusable. I don't care how much he knows. Bottom line is you treat customers with respect and be organized better than a 5 year old. What makes me chuckle is the fact that I mentioned earlier, that he is just fine when you deal with him face to face. Also, I have already spoken about him to Bill.

Joe knows his stuff, sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience. I had good service from him but, that's been several years ago.

I totally agree with you on Bill, can't say enough good about him. I don't go thru him at the dealership though.

Just Corvettes hasn't really evolved into the newer generation Corvettes C5 and up. C1-C4 is their bread and butter for parts, repair, and restoration. I rarely see a C5 out there, and never C6' s or C7's, I only live a mile away and I stop in from time to time and talk to the owner.

My kid lived there in St Charles a few years back when he was still driving airplanes for TWA out of Lambert, and I used to go up there once or twice a year to visit. I went over to JC a couple times and spoke with Dan. Really nice guy; gave me the 50¢ tour of the place. I bought my 12mm torque tube assembly for my '99 from them a few years back when I was in the early stages of my buildup.
