Today I discovered the left side speakers on my Bose system are out. The right side works well. The speaker in the drivers door is completely out, while the left rear has a very tinny sound to it. Any ideas on this issue?? I have a 98 vert.
It could be the Bose Signal Processor or the radio itself. You could pull the radio and test it on the bench or take it to a shop.
I am thinking it is more likely to be the processor since both speakers are out in the left front but not entirely in the back. The processor conditions the L&R signals from the radio and sends them back to it. The processor also sends an output to the front subwoofers for sound and also powers the amps there. The radio ends up providing sound for the other 4 speakers.
You can access the processor by just removing the Knee Bolster. It is to the left of the center console mounted to the bracket that has the gas pedal.
I can post the FSM guidance info on that if you need it.
Here is how to access the radio. Just stop once you have the radio accessed. If you have a manual shifter you don't need to remove the shift ****. You can separate the boot from the console and rotate it slightly so that the console can be lifted over it leaving the boot and shifter in place.
Thanks so much for the information. Im not very handy so I guess I will have to try to find a shop. I was so concerned with the mechanical aspects of the car when I test drove it, I didnt even check the radio.

Is this type of issue even worth fixing, or am I better off getting a new radio????

Depends on if you want to keep the car stock, add additional features like NAV and bluetooth, and how much you are willng to pay for an upgrade or just to fix the problem with stock components. If it were me, I'd probably give Dennis at Double D Mods a call and discuss what kind of price you can get on a nice new system.

I would fix it if it were mine. I know people on here love to spend money on bigger speakers and blah, blah, blah. I bought the car for performance and handling not to listen to music.
I'd probably fix it too... I wanted a little better sound than stock, we take some road trips and sometimes it's nice to crank up some good traveling music... I prefer some good 70's ROCK.
So, I upgraded to the Kicker speakers from Double D mod, it comes with the adapters so it's plug and play... I had the 12 disc CD changer so it was also VERY simple for me to plug and play with an Ipod 30 pin cable... I also got a 30 pin Bluetooth Receiver at Best Buy and so now I have a completely stock looking better sounding stereo that I can play CD's, FM, Ipod, Bluetooth, Pandora....
It cost about $200 total...I am VERY happy with the quality and options.
I would prefer to keep it stock, if its nit too expensive to fix. The 2 speakers that do work sound amazing so I an leaning hard to repair......IF i can find a place to do it for me. Im not very handy and wouldnt think of attempting to remove the stuff to get it fixed. Thanks for the input already posted, and any more that may come. Its sincerely appreciated.
