Default Oil leak update thread?

Concluded it wasn't loose upper or lower pan bolts, none of the sensors.. BUT on our search we found the rubber boot holding the pcv valve at the front of the intake was dry rotted and torn, also believe the valve was stuck, no parts place has the rubber of course, so we taped up the crack and let it run a while.. No oil leak? Can a bad pcv valve and broke rubber boot cause oil to leak? Maybe building too much pressure and pushing out at the weakest point?

I don't know about the LS Motors, but I had a '55 Chevy with a 396 that would puke oil out of the rear main if I disconnected the PCV. It depends how much crankcase pressure you're producing. Bottom line is yeah, its possible.

We let it run long enough for the fans to cut on, revved it up a few times, saw no leak, before it was a drop or two every 7 seconds or so

That's encouraging. I would say you found the problem.

Hopefully that was the source of the leak and you're good to go. Might want to touch base with Marc at VetteNuts and see if he has a rubber boot in good condition that you could buy.

How do I find the part number? Surely the dealership can get it?

You won't need a part number if you call Marc. Just explain what you want and he'll know which piece you need. If for some reason he doesn't , just send him a pic.
