How many of you Power Shift your car... I have had cars in the past that were 4 speeds that you could shift without ever lifting your foot off the gas... we called it Power shifting...or Speed Shifting
I haven't tried it on the C5... I think I read that it's NOT a good thing for this tranny... True or False?
Some of you drag race... do you Power Shift?
I have not, still original clutch, little older, little slower, less *****, well the clutch is most likely the only reason !!!!!!!!!!! in my early years with a big block 69 Camaro with m22 and Hurst Super Shifter, I left it to the floor more than less !!!!!!
My daily driver 2009 Cobalt SS Turbo has a "no lift shift" function. It spits a little back pressure out of the exhaust when you do it.
Incidentally, if you are looking for a "stealth" performance car, this is it. With the GM stage 1 kit, it's 300 HP at the wheels, 330 torque rating. Brembo brakes, 18 inch wheels, launch control, and a "competition driving mode," at less than 3000 lbs. And they only made the 4 door for 09, and built about 300 of them. I'm never selling this car. Not as much fun as my C6 Corvette of course, but fun none the less....
In that case, to the OP, go ahead and try it and let us know how it works out for you...
Didn't say I was going to try it... I did it several times in my 65 GTO back in the day... I'm way to slow now and stopped tearing up stuff on purpose a long time ago...lol

it's basically a 2 step (launch controller) and no lift shift in one... it cuts the ignition for milliseconds which basically eliminates all of your torque so you can shift without lifting off the gas pedal and not do any damage to the drivetrain... fuel is still there so when the ignition comes back it sounds like a shotgun blast and can shoot flames out of your exhaust tips if the fuel is ignited

Cool... I'm guessing the STOCK drive train would still NOT like this set up...I know your running after market clutch... have you done anything to the torque tube and rear end to keep from tearing stuff up with the no lift shifts..
Thanks for answering my uninformed questions

I have a twin disc, dss poly couplers in the torque tube, and a pfadt diff mount, nothing too fancy and it has been fine so far... trans and diff are stock internally and I have used amsoil fluids in them since I have owned the car... I have a tr6060 swap from an 09 z06 that I plan to put in over the winter that way I don't worry about it so much anymore

So, the weak link is the clutch, not the tranny or diff, is that safe to say?
That being said if your NOT boosted, and you can actually pull off a speed shift, it's Most likely to shred the clutch and not the stock drive train?
I'm not going to do it, I just like learning about our C5's and what they can take...hell, it's more car than I use now.
