Back in June I did a shooout in Wakefiled NE. First run went great second one something broke in the engine. It is still sitting on my lift sad with no diagnosis yet.
The car was putting down about 560rwhp on a Mustang dyno. Its a 427 high compression running 110 octane. It also has a nitrous system for an extra 70hp but I think that was part of the reason it went boom on the second run. Plan is to rebuild a motor that is actually meant for nitrous. All said and done goal is for 750rwhp and 200mph.
As for the road it was a bit sketchy given how narrow it is. There was also a 25mph crosswind that kept things interesting.
What gearing do you have? At what RPMs do you pull to?
Bad *** video!
Both tranny and rear have been updated by RPM. Rear gear is a 3.42 5th and 6th gears are still stock gearing. Goal when I pull the engine is to either change the rear gear or 5th gear to reach 200mph while in 5th. At the end of this run I was at about 7,200rpm.
Thanks it was a fun first run sadly the only good one. Oh well it was a test to see where I need to go next.
wow nice run! that's intense! I'm also sorry to hear you lost the motor, bummer , but i guess you can always build a new forged motor to take the punishment.

or if someone lost control and went right into someone's house... I think it's pretty cool they shut the road down to allow people to open their cars up but it might not have been the best place to do it, however I bet it was a lot of fun
Question is, did they shut down the road? If not this is beyond nuts. Even if they did it's just too risky IMO. Too many chances for innocents to get hurt.
Not to be a downer, looks amazingly fun, but...

Yes the road was shut down on both ends with about a 1.5 mile slowdown area before you turn around to parade back to the start.
This was the second year for the event I missed the first one. I will be honest the road is not ideal it is one heck of a rush however.
Here is a video from another event I do every year in Arnold NE. This was back in 2010 with a different vette just doing the half mile. I had to back off for a second in 2nd gear due to traction issues. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k0ykhmTFrs
Here is a better angle of the Arnold road driving my father in laws R8 V10 this year. Its a fun car not as fast but no traction issues: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43AaLQlKCeY

Were you wearing a helmet ... or other safety equipment (parachute or ejection seat ?)
Lol I had all the safety gear helmet, firesuit and gloves. The vette is fully race prepped cage and fire suppression system. As for parachute and ejection seat not so much just fingers crossed and eyes closed if things go wrong.
