Is the 99 C5 cam position sensor the same as the one on the 98 firebird. Both are LS1.
I'm having issues with my C5 cam sensor and have a new firebird LS1 sensor available, though maybe I can use it on the C5.
Yes, they should be the same. It should be tall and skinny and look like this:
I could be wrong but its my understanding that all Gen III smallblocks (97-04 LS1, LS6, etc.) have the same sensor, pictured above, and that all Gen IV smallblocks (05-14 LS2, LS3, LS7, etc.) have a different camshaft sensor which is much shorter and is relocated to the front of the timing cover.
