Default Bumper & Trunk emblem removal

What would be the best way to remove the trunk and bumper emblem? Are they glued on or held on by some other means?

Any help would be appreciated.

I just sold my front and rear emblems , I used dental floss , sliding back and forth slowly to cut through the adhesive.

it will take no more then 5 minutes each at a slow controlled pace fopr each emblem.

You will have glue residue left on your paint, I used lacquer thinner to remove it , but its a very harsh chemical u might try something less powerful if your worried , like goo gone or something.

heat gun or hair dryer would be nice to have too, just be careful to not let it get too hot

if you remove the front you will have two holes in the bumper cover.

Most likely, yes. Not sure just spot painting the area would look all that good.

I removed the front Emblem when I repainted the bumper cover, hit a Doe and resulted in a few scratches and it already had many rock chips, so it needed a re-paint.

As Posted by others , The bumper covers Emblem is unfortunately is held in place with nubs from the Plastic Emblem. I not only had two holes, but a low area where the Emblem was attached and several other low spots on the nearly the entire upper part of the bumper cover, which is not unusual.

So, removal does require a re-paint and some Elbow Grease to get the bumper cover Flat. I put in a lot of hours blocking out the cover to satisfy myself.

I've painted quite a few Corvette over the years and a few Show Cars and all of my own Classics,, it's a hobby I got into in the 70's. I wasn't satisfied with Body Shops quality and the $$ cost - So I learned from a Pro.

I did strip all of the factory paint from the bumper cover, not to difficult but it is a habit I have because even a newer Auto, One never knows what's under the paint.

If you plan on removing the front bumper cover, do plan on a strip and re-paint. If you have a Color with Pearl, it is very expensive, and very difficult to blend and that's why I re-painted my entire bumper cover, and the head light covers and bezels around the screens as well. I've watched the Pros blend Pearls, It's an ART.

Paint & Body work isn't Rocket Science, But it does require experience to obtain quality results, so it's usually isn't for the average DIY Corvette owner.

Following the Factory Paint, Filler, etc. directions is a must. You might consider the purchase of a used front bumper cover and having a Corvette "Experienced" Body Shop paint do this job.

Here is what the bumper cover looks like without the Emblem. I still need to Rub out the new paint, which is R-M Diamont.

This would not be a low cost project.

Good Luck.

Michael..

Thanks for insight capt mike, I got my car scheduled to remove it, I think the cleaner look will be worth it imo. The painter is a real good buddy of mine and his work is top notch! Got a very good deal.

Thanks to all.

I thought that you prob would Good luck. What color is your Vette??

P.M. me if you need any info on Paint, primers or filling the holes. I have all the photos. Be careful when you remove the cover. The studs that attach the cover at the front of the fenders will gouge your paint.

If you ever plan to install the ZO6 vents or air duct,s now's the time.
