I actually drive several miles, and pass several stations to fill up with Shell 93 octane. Never had any problems. I've never added Techron to the gas tank.
I'm up in Denver...run Shell Premium. FYI Down the Road Corvettes is having a show at Emich Chevrolet this Saturday, the 12th, if you're interested. 185 signed up so far...may be a mix of Chevy but I know of at least 40 that are Corvettes.
Thank's but I am committed to a show this Saturday in Fort Carson and I am taking my 1955 VW Beetle, maybe next time

Reason: mispell
Got my Z in '03, and almost immediately started having gas gauge problems. Joined CF and learned to use Chevron gas. We only get 92 here, but if anyone would get a gummed up system, it'd be me. I only drive a little bit, every other week, and the car doesn't have 20k miles yet.
Never have had any problems with Shell, I use it all the time.. Stay the hell away from Marathon though,. First tank of that instantly gave me the 0 fuel gauge issue.. Never again..
-- Among samples of regular unleaded gasoline (those with an octane rating of 87), Exxon had the highest level of additives (20.0 milligrams per 100 milliliters), closely followed by BP (17.2 mg) and Shell (16.2 mg). Trailing substantially were CITGO (6.0 mg) and Pilot (5.8mg).
-- Among premium fuels (92 or 93 octane), Shell took the top spot (31.0 mg), followed by BP (26.4 mg) and Exxon (21.2 mg). CITGO (9.4 mg) and Pilot 92 (8.8 mg) lagged behind the other three brands -- including the trio's regular gasoline samples.
Techron seems to fix gas gauge problems with the C5. It took two bottles in two tank fulls but it fixed my gas gauge problem I had in my 98.
I'm ready to get flamed but I get my gas at ........Walmart . It is the only place nearby that has 93 octane that my 98 wants. My 02 is fine with 91 octane.
Gas is delivered to a tank farm. It is not Branded yet. An additive package is added and now it is Shell or Citco or Speedway or Walmart or whom ever it is delivered to by truck
Chevron with Techron is simply the best so why monkey with fate? If you can't get it, then Texaco with Techron. After that I go for Shell. After that, any Top Tier fuel in a pinch.
Years ago I helped run an oil refinery in Africa. One thing I quickly figured out was that every petroleum engineer we hired said he ran only Chevron in his personal cars. None of them had ever worked for Chevron.
No matter what you use, run a large bottle of Techron through your Corvette or other performance cars every six months. If your car has two fuel tanks, add the Techron in such a way that it gets into both tanks.

No Chevron around here and closest Texaco is 25 miles away. Shell seemed to have fixed my gauge problem so I will stick with it.
Not to mention Shell does have the most detergents.
