I recently bought a corvette and the batter has been tricky some days it starts just fine and others it is dead but when the battery needs to be jumped to start it seems like the car is harder to get into gear and as you drive it it get easier. But when the battery is charged and the car starts right up it goes into gear just fine. is there an electronic sensor that help the car shift that could be having problems.

It will help in the future is you put the year of your car and if it's a manual or auto trans... and list any mods that have been done.
I'm assuming it's a 6spd... It's quite normal for the car to shift easier once the fluids get to moving a get warmed up... has NOTHING to do with the battery.
It sounds like you have some sort of parasitic battery drain...or possibly a BAD battery... you can have it checked at most automotive stores like Pep Boys, or O'Reillys
1998 manual transmission bought the car through an auto auction so from the looks of it
bbk headers
throttle body ( says ls1 & 425 hp I don't know what that means )
Cold air intake
and a short throw shifter .
