Default Quick question on LED upgrades

Hi all,
Have updated a lot of my lights and look great!

I want to do my rear license plate lights and under my auto PRND321 bit..
Looked at a few threads.. But just wondering what lights go into these, are they the same?

I think maybe code is 194? Is that the ones you've used.. And anywhere to get decent ones.. As it seems there are cheap ones kicking around, but are they any good

Thanks

Default shifter indicator bulb

I used a Philips 194 I bought locally at auto supply. It is a compact and nice looking bulb and is really bright. I just bought a package of one and it was $8.00. Hope this helps.

No I have not done the license lights. The socket in the shifter is very prone to heat damage as well as the plastic piece above the bulb. I had to get a replacement piece from Mid-America in Effingham as mine was burnt up. The LED bulb does not get as hot and should last a long time.

Our Cree LED bulbs are the brightest and whitest in the industry. These are not "cool" white like most LEDs out there.

http://shop.radioflyerinnovations.co...t-of-2-052.htm

Note: your shift indicator diffuser has a blue tint to it. To get the pure white look from a pure white LED, you can remove this and replace it with just plain white adhesive paper with clear transparent tape on the top (this is what I did in my car with great success)

I used leftovers from Avery's peel-and-stick shipping label paper I had laying around.

I used bulbs I had gotten from JWM, now out of business, for the license plate lights and reverse bulbs from Corvettemods. Both work great and the back of the car looks real nice at night with the pure white light instead of the yellowy look. It looks real nice with my red/amber euro tails. I know, sorry no pics. I'll have to do that.

We don't currently have a listing for the indicator bulb by itself, but we can offer it for $10. If you plan to get tag lights and the indicator light purchase the following:

http://shop.radioflyerinnovations.co...t-of-2-052.htm

Then purchase 1 custom order credit from here ($10)

Okay, so what am I missing?

I received my license Tag LEDs today from RadioFlyer. I just knew this was going to be an "easy" upgrade for once (I never learn). I had some other 3rd party license plate LEDs already installed a couple years ago, but they were pretty dim and somewhat "blue".

Took the old LED I had out of one lens and the new RadioFlyer LED plugged right in - so far so good. I turned on the lights to compare the one I just swapped out to the other old LED still in the other lens and the RadioFlyer LEDs were much brighter and the "perfect" color of white (for me) - two steps down, one to go. Step 3, I tried to screw the socket back into the lens and the LED hit the lens before I could engage the tabs Tried turning the LED in the socket and tried turning the socket 180-degrees with the lens - no go. Only thing I could think of was to try to grind down one of the new LEDs to get it to fit - went further than I was comfortable with and still could not get the lens on.

Is there some "trick" I am missing???

Here is a photo:

Bulb at top is my old dim LED that fit fine inside the lens
Bulb in the center is the one I ground down, but still would not fit
Bulb at bottom is the way they arrived today

I went through this with another brand of LEDs. The problem with mine was the same, they were too long to fit into the light and could not get the latch to turn and lock. I took them back to the auto supply and traded them for a pair that were shorter. The replacements were not as bright but they fit ok. I would think that radiofliers LEDs would fit OK. I feel your pain about the easy mods, seems to happen to me every time I think something is going to be easy. Good luck

Since I tried to grind that one down, I am sure I "own" it now! They would have been "perfect" if they had fit!

They were listed in the C5 Section of the website and were described and "Tag Light Bulbs", guess nobody actually tried to install them in the lenses?

The bulbs WILL fit in the tag lights, but you may need a pair of pliers to turn the socket once inserted. We install them on a customer's C5 a few weeks ago and made note of this. Our shorter 1-chip bulbs fit with no problem, but due to the angle of projection did little to illuminate the license plate.

So are you saying that even if I get them to fit, they will not illuminate the plate?

Also, did I destroy the one bulb by grinding it down?
