Default second skin materials

To those who have used the second skin sound deadening solution

•1 Shop Pack Damplifier Pro - 48 Sheets at 12" x 20"
•5 Sheets Luxury Liner Pro - 9 Sqft Each at 24" x 54"

...could you please let me know if you liked the product and if it worked well?

I have not decided what I am going to use yet so I am gathering experiences and satisfaction from users...

There is so much out there to choose from...

Thanks

I used the Second Skin products and have been very satisfied. The one thing I would note is that after researching I found that it is not required to cover every square inch with the dampening product (Damplifier) but only about 20% spread by panel. Flat panels being more susceptible to vibrations than curved ones. For instance, the floor pan under the seats I covered with a square in the middle of each pan and then a quarter square in each corner. On the curves of the rear fender wells just quarter squares evenly placed. With the Luxury Liner which is used as a blocking (make sure you install correct side down) and somewhat absorbing layer on top of the dampening layer, I covered every square inch I could and used spray adhesive and taped the seams. This worked very well for me. It does add weight but I changed other components for lighter ones and the net effect was still a modest decrease in overall vehicle weight.

Thank you! Did you put anything extra in for heat shield around the trans tunnel? Also, so do know how many sheets of the damplifier you used to complete your job?

I did also have the Elite 3/8" tunnel plate installed, but not with any thermal pad, however I did purchase an ensolite pad cut especially for the center console. These controlled the heat in the center console. The Second Skin products are designed for acoustic control though they do have some thermal benefits. I purchased the bulk pack of the Damplifier but did not use all of it and used the rest in my daughters Subaru. Sorry I don't recall exactly how much went into each but if I had to guesstimate I would say 65% of the bulk pack went into the vette. Mine is a coupe so if you have a vert or FRC even less.

I used their products for my C5 and the results was very pleasing.
I do not remember the amount used. I sent an email to Second Skin and purchased what they recommended. I have very little left over. I made sure I measured twice, cut once.
I was after noise reduction and thats what I got. Great products and customer service.
Good luck with your project.

This site will help with technique. Read it all it will give you the strategies to use. You don't have to use their product but can apply the techniques when using the Second Skin products. Interesting read and the source I used to install my Second Skin products. Good Luck.

Second Skin Audio used to offer a "Corvette Package" deal with what they consider the right amount of Damplifier and Luxury Liner Pro to do our cars. I recall having to order some extra Damplifier Pro, but I went overboard and nearly did 100% coverage. Second Skin Audio often has discounts/specials that sometimes include free shipping, which can save you a bundle. Be advised their sound deadening, especially the "Pro" line, is HEAVY and THICK. For me the benefits of this mod were marginal at best; I couldn't detect much improvement. Apparently results vary.
