I got on here and read a good thread describing how to change the module out. I bought a brand new one sealed never opened. I plan on getting the old looked at and repaired.
This job is an absolute nightmare for me like most repairs on either of my Corvette's. I posted two pictures so you understand. Getting the 6 screws off is simply time consuming along with lots of loud verbal expression.
As you can see I am challenged by my hands and their inability to fit easy into this space.
The module WILL NOT separate from the pump assembly. All the little cylinders are stuck. I have it 1/4 of the way apart. I am afraid of damaging the pump assembly at this point it. I've wedged a screwdriver it between and prying only bends the whole assembly back and forth.

GM recommends removing the whole abs pump and module assembly to change.
Take your air cleaner off as this will give you more room. Make sure you are removing the right 6 bolts. There are 2 in the middle that are recessed and hard to get to. You may have taken some off the cover and thought those where the right ones to remove ( ask me how I know ) It is very tight for sure. Once you get the right six out it almost falls off. ABS Fixer can repair your old one.
Did you unhook the harness first?? It looks like it is still attatched?
Now that I have gotten it off once and know the procedure I can remove it in 30 minutes. Torx magnetic tip short handle small diameter handle. I screwed around and had to figure it out through trial and error. The ultimate shame here is after getting it off and plugging the new module in the traction control warning came back on. So now I have to find the ground wire. I dread electrical problems.
FYI, putting the screws back in is much worse than taking them out. So you have that to look forward to.
I want to say this so if anyone else has patience issues they can know they aren't alone. I took what I thought were 6 screws off holding the EBCM to the pump. I was wrong. If I just looked at the screws in the little bag with the new part I would have noticed the difference. So I was pulling and prying and luckily I didn't break the pump.
The module comes off as easy as picking it up out of a box. I went to all that trouble to get the same warning light. I found the ground wires and plastic end where it attaches to the inside of the engine bay. The wires go to a bundle. How can I repair the ground so it is at least out of the equation ? Replace the plastic connection and scrape the ends ? I have no idea what to do ? Initially I thought I needed to go through a drive cycle but it's on and won't go away.
