Default Fluid Recommendations

I have had my Z06 for a year now. 3000 miles or so. I did factory fill change at 888 miles. I figure it is time again. I am thinking of doing engine, trans, differential - what should I put in it?

Dude, with 3000 miles you don't need to do anything but the oil (once a year minimum). I use Mobil 1 5W30 with 'supersyn' and a Mobil 1 oil filter.

I'd wait and get a few more miles!! If your shifting is kind of notchy and you want smoother shifts and app 1 mpg better then change to synthetic ATF like Mobil One ATF or Redline or Amsoil. You really dont need to do the differential till at least 50k. It already comes synthetic factory fill.

Yes, good point... you need to wait 5-6000 miles for the tranny to full break in before switching to synthetic

Agrre with all above. Check your manuals and video. Your way to early for fluid changes. I do High Speed Driving schools with my 02 Z06 and just do the oil M1 15-30 before each session and temp is low and condition realtively clean.

Thanks for the input.

To what temp is the trans fluid good to anyway? I had the temperature sensor come on. It cooled down quickly but regardless - did I smoke the fluid? Might be good to swap the fluid.

If you get to 10k miles under warranty you may get a free trans fill courtesy of GM. The threads on this forum indicate a seal leak is a strong possibility on the drivers side by then. Did mine at 10.5 K Let the General pay, maybe they will get the idea to do it right the first time.

Mobil One ATF has a pour point of -65F. The flash point is 428F. The viscosity index is 198. One of the things I changed was the ATF.
