Clean the whole interior really well, then spray all the carpet/fabric parts with Lysol, may smell like Lysol a couple of days but works well .. Then after that you can hang a "black ice" tree air freshener on the mirror.. I know Christmas tree air fresheners are corny but damn the black ice smells good, can get it in a aerosol can too

Sprinkle baking soda on the carpet then vacuum and it will smell good.

The vacuum will smell a little better. But neither the car or the vacuum will smell good.
Just get the Febreeze. It does a great job and it doesn't have the Corvette tax.

Gliptone makes a fogger that you set off in car it gets into vents and everywhere. I bought a car one time that the driver smoked a pipe it was making me sick . A friend gave me one of the cans bingo smell was gone

Thanks everyone. I've completed one application of Febreeze with some improvement and will try it again. Thanks

I'm a baking soda fan.

Can also use anti-mold spray which has light chlorine amounts in it. My car had had a light passenger side leak when I bought it and the carpet there was NOT moldy... but the scent in the car was not perfectly clean either. I sprayed ALL the carpet down and the car smelled like new again after with no recurrence of the "old car" smell.

Default This a good one. There are others........

Use as directed. Spray most of product in air plenum in front of windshield.

Nice clean scent without smelling like perfume or flowers.

I have found Meguiar's G16402 Whole Car Air Refresher Odor Eliminator to work much better than Febreeze etc. Available at Walmart. Its a fogger and removes smoke smell quite effectively. Cost is around $7.

Rip out the interior carpet and shampoo it. Let it dry in the sun and your odors should be gone. It sounds like a chore but it's really simple.

Something is causing the stink..you gotta find the culprit to be truly done with it. It is not normal to have your car stink. Check the udders, check for leaks, damp carpet, mold, old tuna sandwich etc. Put your nose to work.

Start changing your socks !! lol . I'm sorry, had to use that reply !! One very cost effective way to maintain a clean smell in your car after a 'Good' detailed cleaning of all your interior is to use a couple of clothes freshener sheets, one under each seat, cost is marginal and works well.
