Bleeding brakes question. Does fluid go through the piston when bleeding?
I am trying to get as much old fluid out of my brake system.
If the pads are wore down and the pistons are out quite a bit. When bleeding the brakes does the fluid go through the piston reservoir to the bleeder or is the piston area a dead end for fluid?
If it is a dead end area I was thinking about pushing my pistons in before my next bleed to drive more of the old fluid out.
The position of the piston will make minimal difference. Pushing it back in may help a little, but where the fluid enters the caliper (brake line) and where it exits (bleeder valve) are far enough apart that you will effectively get the old fluid out regardless.
