Default A quickie...

Wife and I took a quick trip to Sequoia State Park... daughter had reservations at the Indian Lodge and couldn't go and couldn't cancel so we took the time to run over there in the C5 and spend the night.
On the way home I'm running 75 on the turnpike, when it turns to 65 then to 55... I was still going a little fast in the left lane and coasted by a mini van thingy with a Kicker tag...he shoots past us and then slows down like he wants to race... WTH! I just ignore him, as the wife and I are enjoying the beautiful drive and visit. At the next stop he has his window down and giving us a violent thumbs down and ranting something... I look at momma she looked at me, we laughed and talked a little bit about how her mentally challenged grade school kids are probably more mature than the 30ish looking guy driving this mini van...
Wow it doesn't happen often, but it's always a surprise when it does. I guess it shouldn't. On the bright side when we went past the Lodge at the State Park some woman randomly hollered "NICE CAR" the wife hollered "THANK YOU" ... then at Braum's four gray heads parked beside us and were still walking backwards to the store checking out the car, pointing, and smiling all the way...
Well, the moral of the story is... the C5 gets lots of attention, mostly positive and a few negative... I guess you just take the good with the bad.

Good restraint shown by not getting sucked into a street race. Other than that moron, sounds like you had a nice weekend.

I don’t know, this kind of stuff rarely happens to me except for the four teens out in daddy’s AMG Merc who while they are all turned to look at me while revving the engine of the AMG, smash into the rear end of the car stopped at the light in front of them. Luckily no one was hurt, but I stuck around to give a witness statement to the county sheriff’s deputy who responded to the accident. I’m sure daddy was not pleased.

The deputy, after taking the statement, spends a good ten minutes admiring my coupe and asking questions until I remind him the people actually involved in the accident are all standing by the side of the road waiting for him.

Steve, so you assume the thumbs down was for the car and not you?

Umm... I don't think it was for me Mr Sam I don't think for the car either... I think it was just because I decided not to put our highly tuned awesome running LS1 Corvette against his Vibe mini van...I think unless it was like the Farm Truck on Street Outlaws I could have taken him... Not real sure what the gesture meant...but assumed it was not meant to be a positive thing

One way to deal with these low life dirt ***** is to dial 911 and report an apparent DWI.

You may have to drive farther than to the warehouse for beer and a stogie to have this kind of encounter...and it seems your diagnostics for electrical issues is FAR superior to your insight on how your fellow corvette brothers are treated.

I have experienced similar situations.

It is at once, frustrating, embarassing (for humankind), and unsafe as you know these guys like you encountered have lots of 'road rage' boiling just below the surface. Which makes us all, unsafe.

Good on you, for being 'the adult in the room', and keeping your wife safe...

Thanks Don... In my younger days I probably would have asked him if he wanted to "dance" lol

Yesterday was taking my younger son to basketball practice.there were a lot of people gawking at my yellow 2000! It was pretty funny to see. On Fri my wife took it to dosome shopping and she said pulling through mcdonalds the kid working yelled to another: come look at this car! That made me laugh.
I have not really had anyone wanting to drag race. But i also dont pay a lot of attention to other drivers when im at lights. I do know this one guy was tailing me entering the interstate. And when i hit the ramp i floored it to 80 and lost him. The speed to 80 in this car is crazy fast.

Throw a loud exhaust on and see what happens. You'll get all kinds of obscenities: middle fingers, curse words, dirty looks. I daily drive a 2005 Scion xA with 108 hp and I drive it just like a Vette, but when I am actually in the Vette I get all sorts of rude behavior from people. When I'm in my Scion, people care less. But when I'm in the Vette, all of a sudden I'm a rich A$$hole! I didn't get this reaction from people before the exhaust either.

its like some kind of invitation lol

I noticed when i'm in my z06 seams theres always more aggressive driver around then when i'm in my SUV (wife noticed it to) funny part is its cars that have nothing to do with performance mini vans, honda accords, vibes and so on some try to get me to run but i just laugh and let them be on there way...

unless its something worth running and the road is clear
