I found small tear in my weather striping on my 2004 coupe . Tear is on drivers side near were targa top pin goes in to body. There is no leaking, It just bugs me. Questions are is this a job that can done by someone who hasn't done weather striping replacement before ? Second is GM weather striping still available ? Third if after market weather striping has to be used what brand have you used. Thanks David

I did this myself about two months ago. Took me about 45 minutes. Found a good write-up on this from another forum member.
Hey JEH03Vette, Awesome write up and pictures. I have to do this project this winter. I did this on my '94 and it took a long time. This looks much easier.
BorntoRun04 I'm up north. GM dealership cost was $400 Canadian. Suspect less for you down in USA.
I found a tear in the weather stripping on my coupe, but used super glue to cement it back together and the tear barely shows.
I did the same thing. Mine sprung about a 1" tear on both sides of the top a year ago - pretty much overnight. I cleaned the mating surfaces with alcohol and used Gorilla Super Glue and you cannot even tell where the tears were unless you look really close - even then does not look like they were repaired, just like they came that way.
For the complete set of 14 seals, believe GM still makes one of them, that single seal is over 500$ by itself.
I believe the vendor I bought from had an arrangement with another vendor to drop ship, as the shipping labels had both the address and web address of the 2nd vendor.
JEH03Vette thanks for the great write up, Makes me think if I take my time I can do this job. It's getting to be close to storage time around here.Thinking I maybe should order part now but to do replacement job in spring when warmer temps would be around to help seal ? Does anyone have the GM part number or proper name of this weather striping ? Thank you to everyone who responded to my post.
Welcome. They have a similar software at/in their parts office as many after market suppliers have. Shows a schematic picture of the parts. If you order from GM, get them to double check against the picture. I have looked at the weatherstrip and it appears correct but I have yet to install it. Good luck. It looks pretty easy compared to the C4 that I did this on.
Just now looking at part vendors for this part number and pricing . I think I probably won't do the replacing till spring, I want to get part now. . But If I get part soon and weather stays good might give it a try before going into storage. Thanks to everyone again for your responses.
Schematic on a vendors site shows were talking about correct part.
