Default A little Confused !!

I'm hoping to get some help here in clarifying an issue. I called a few dealerships with a parts question and got different responses, I have a small oil leak from what I believe is the harmonic balancer seal and it has deteriorated and destroyed the left rubber that wraps around the leaf spring, which the retainer strap bolts over it onto the cradle. Anyhow, one dealer said he would have to order a pair for around $25-26 bucks, so okay, I'm good with that, well I call a couple other dealerships that would be closer to me and was told I have to buy the entire Z51 leaf spring and that the rubber bushing can't be purchased separately because they are bonded on the spring, WTH !! Is this one of those strange azz stupid GM designed components that makes no sense, you can't buy a $10 rubber grommet/bushing to fix a simple problem, no, you have to spend hundreds. Maybe someone who has faced this problem can chime in and enlighten me with their fix option to this issue, Thanks guys !!

Why not give Gene at Cultrag Performance a call and see what he says?

Try contact either Vettenuts or John Llewellyn they'l likely have an entire spring for a whole lot less than a new one.

John's # 865-604-0498

These guy recycle vettes that have been wrecked and the springs are often untouched so they'll likely have a few around.

You got hold on some so-called "parts man" that apparently assumed you were talking about anti-roll bar bushings. IOW, a dumbazz.

I would think the insulator could be removed and the surface cleaned. Selection of new insulator material would be like selecting suspension bushing material. Bonding could be done with an adhesive like is used on brake shoes or disc pads.

I assume it is rectangular in size but have never seen one. Even if is not a vendor like SealJet could make it. I have used them to make specialty seals for the Nuclear Industry including O-rings with no mold flash marks. Really cool CAD CAM process and their inventory of materials and durometers is huge.

Thanks for your input, unfortunately, this is not the part. This is the adjustable bolt at the end of the spring that is used for ride height adjustment. I do appreciate your help !!

For your sake, I was hoping it would be that insulator.

If you need that rubber insulator that is hidden by the retainer on that leaf spring,
then you're going to need to buy the whole new leaf spring; it comes as part of the leaf

and we can help you out with that too of course.

The Sport Ride (FE3) spring leaf has been discontinued.

hope this helps..

You could possibly consider taking it to a local spring shop,
and they might be able to re-do it for you. just a thought.
