Default Battery terminal removal when fitting LMC5

I need to install LMC5 but unfortunately the negative terminal on my vette is impossible to reach. Can I just remove the positive terminal to install bypass. This would make my install 200% easier. I need to use the unlocker as well as steering column is locked. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Impossible to reach? You going to sell this car when the battery dies?

If you can't leave constructive comments don't bother posting. It's people like you that waste everyone's time and are extremely annoying.

Not like your comment is constructive....

In any event, i really don't understand how a negative battery terminal could be inaccessible. Maybe inconvenient.
So my POINT was probably not obvious to you. If you are going to wrench on your own Corvette something really basic like disconnecting the battery terminal is sort of "the price of entry".
Have a wonderful evening.
Flamesuit on.

Do you have a pic of your battery? It should be relatively easy by using a wrench or better yet one of these ratcheting wrenches:

By far one of the best investments I have made in my tool box is a full ratcheting wrench set.

I am in Australia and vehicle has been converted to right hand drive. Also, vehicle has been fitted with a Vortex Supercharger so there has been some shifting of mechanics. The battery is now on left side at the rear of engine bay under the windscreen cover.

Yes, but you have to make sure you don't create short circuit when removing the positive terminal. If your wrench touches any grounded metal you have a real problem. Worst case you explode the battery in your face.

That battery position is nuts, btw! I suggest looking at an alternate battery or alternate battery location to resolve that problem. A much smaller lithium battery and/or rear mounting it are possible solutions.

Yes, you can just remove the positive wire to kill the car power but wrap the wrench in electrical tape for extra insurance against it hitting any grounded metal.

This is what I use. Almost no chance of shorting out.

Dear OP,
Thanks for the additional details explaining your quandary. Most people on the forum are more than willing to help when we get adequate information.
I know there are vettes converted to RHD, but they are very rare.
Good luck with your challenge/s

I would have some sort of rubber mat to put over all the metal... maybe an old innertube you can lay over things so it CAN'T make contact with anything... good luck mate!

Maybe someday buy a Battery box and long cables and move it to the back of the car, will remove weight from the nose (good) less heat so it'll last longer (good) and you'll have easy access (very good)

I don't remember unhooking my battery when I installed my LMC5, but it was years ago...

Squeezed hand in under the cover and was able to turn butterfly nut on terminal. Have got the vette running with the easy install of LMC5. Cannot recommend highly enough on this item and also the customer service from supplier who went over and beyond to help me. Happy motoring now.

Glad you were able to get it done without to much trouble. Now take it out for a drive and enjoy it.
