Does anybody out there got this package on their Z06. I was wondering what is the price range for this type of package anyway. It would be nice if their webiste quoted prices. I am shopping around to see how far I want to drive to get to a reputable shop. So far, it is Ohio or NJ if I don't chose the local guy down in Charlotte..
I saw his 2002 Z06 (HammerPackage) while out at Carlisle. It 's a head and cam package, special wheels and tires, alot of decals on the car, upgraded brakes and quite a bit more. I think it puts out about 403 RWHP for the 02 and 395 on 01. It looked like a nice set up and I think the complete package was about $11,000. From what I understood, you don't have to order all the items if you don't like them. Also the package has long tube headers. On a side note, I saw one of his cars on the dyno, LS1 with a supercharger. It put out 560 RWHP   very nice!
IF you want pure HP ... dont go with Mallett ... he is more about drivabilty and a "package" car ... the Hammer Package is a H/C w/ LT Headers and some other things ... but they are second only to LPE in terms of quality
Mallet is a great tuner, but more expensive. If you want a turnkey complete package, with emphasis on reliability and driveability, then I would hesitate to use Mallet.
First , I am not an employee of Mallett. I am one of his many customers.
I can not say enough about their attention to detail and the research that they have done to ensure quality and dependability.
My car is currently in his shop for Z06 ported heads, Z06 intake, 2002 Z06 H-pipe, Z06 clutch, master and slave, cam, long tube headers, and a Mallett billet shifter, M12 trans,. I already had the suspension done by him and a 3.70 getrag installed last year. He will also be installing custom Z06 wheels with Super Car Tires. I wanted the wheels done like the GM Mag to go with my pewter exteriior, as my wife and I like the look of that color combination.
I have visited the shop frequently un-anounced, and they have always taken the time to answer any questions and explain the why and wherefore. They treat you as an important person rather than just another customer.
You may find a tunner less expensive, however I do not believe you will be as confident that your car will run correctly, pass emissions, and not have driveability issues. The Mallett operation is most proffesional, and will stand behind what they do. They will advise you, and guide you to look at the big picture as a system.
Once again, I highly reccomend them. It is a family operation, his shop is most impressive, as it is immaculatly clean and organized.
By the way, Chuck's dad is the only person that does the engine work. He has never had a comeback due to some oversight or mistake. You will not be displeased.
